1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    Reason for choice:
It's a dragon doll the size of a small cat. 'Nuff said.
But if you need more, the joint engineering and posability looked fantastic from the previews the artist posted, and the dark green resin....mwah. Gorgeous.
    Best Points:
I love how the wing joints were designed so they look natural both folded and unfolded, and the fact that you can get a lot of expressions out of the face sculpt thanks to how prominent the eyelids are is really cool. The joint engineering is indeed fantastic, I can get her into a lot of nice poses both quadrupedal and bipedal and she'll hold them well, since she came fully sueded already directly from the company. All 3 of her horns are magnetic, and Whale Tower has optional horns available now, so I can branch her out from the unicorn look to a deerlike look, a more dragony one, or a completely hornless aesthetic...and if those don't work, I could also just make my own horns! Love that!
    Worst Points:
The front feet (hands?) and ears ARE posable, but you gotta fight with them sometimes because their S hooks get in the way. The ability to make her both a quadruped and a biped means her arms look kinda weird in either position sometimes, and the single jointed elbows mean that her bipedal poses are a little more limited. The amount of joints she has can be a problem sometimes too, as I occasionally have to push some back into the position I wanted because they shifted after I moved a different part, and the hot glue sueding isn't perfect...it's been gradually falling out in places when the motion of the joints is just right. (Or wrong.) Attaching eyes is a bit scary, as the S hook hooks right onto the head resin to keep it on the body, so you have to pull the head out and twist it to get the hook to sit on the neck divot instead so you can unhook her head...and GOD SAVE YOU if that hook falls off the divot and into the neck hole. I had to use a crochet hook and pliers to get the neck restrung, and gave my hand bruises doing so. (Several times, because I took her apart on purpose to glue her mane in, and then again to redo her mane. It did not get any easier.) On the bright side, if you're worried about the eyes since the artist had some custom made for her, don't be! 20-22mm Anime-style eyes fit and look just fine.

    Quick n dirty mane tutorial:
You'll want to get some loose mohair or similar fiber, form it into wefts (I just used hot glue, but you can sew them too), and then glue the wefts into the inside of the back of her head and the backs of the first and second neck joints. I didn't add wefts any further down because mine were pretty long.
You'll want to use silicone or wet fingers to get the glue as flat and smooth as you can get it so it doesn't interfere with her neck posing.

For a more hair-like mane, you can make smaller wefts and glue them under each of her horns so it looks like it starts at the top of her head. I've got 4 Teeswater locks coming from her forehead horn, and 2 each from the smaller ones. Hot glue wefts are great here because you can really tame the fibers as flat as possible and then trim the tamed part to fit perfectly into the holes the horns slot into. That way hair won't peek out from under there. Again, as flat as possible is key here so you don't interfere with the magnets too much.

I have 0 experience making wigs and 0 inclination to try, but this was a really easy project despite my inexperience. The hardest part was making the wefts (you really need to keep your fingers WET to avoid the glue sticking to you, and COLD to keep from burning yourself), and then of course reassembling her afterwards. She's strung nice and tight, you might need a helper to help you yank the elastic.
  • Name story:
Verdigris is the name for the greenish corrosion that forms on bronze and copper. I liked the idea of using that corrosion as the inspiration for her paint job, and Verdi makes a cute nickname.
