I think I need to start this blog

Hello out there! Anyways, I thought I'd start posting about my doll making experiences, since I'm technically on doll number three.

Jabari is my first completed doll. Jabari is a 47 cm doll, so that puts him in the MSD range -- well, upper MSD range. He's taller than any of my other MSD sized dolls I own. I made him out of Creative Paperclay, La Doll Satin and Creative Paperclay Diamond. My favorite is the regular Creative Paperclay. I love the smoothness of La Doll Satin, but it really is hard to deal with air bubbles at times. Paperclay was much easier, but the downside was that you have to spend more time sanding than with the La Doll. I haven't tried La Doll Premier, so I think on my next doll, I will try it just to see how I like it and how it compares to Creative's Diamond.

I want to put up a larger discussion on the different types of clay -- I've used a LOT of clays and went through a lot of air dry clays trying to find what worked best for me, but I think others can benefit. I also want to put up info on the pitfalls of my experience with mold making, how silicone putty is your friend, how much resin I actually use, ways to make your silicon go further, etc. I hope to put up a resin cast of Jabari in the next couple weeks too. I know we cover some of those topics in the discussions, but I know there were things I found out that we definitely not in the discussions, hehe. Anyways, hope what I post is informative!

Oh please post everything wether someone covered it or not because there are so many things to read here that information is easy to miss on the disscussion board. I really want to see your experiences with the paper clays. I just bought some Ladoll satin and Im just now beginning to work with it some each day if I can and I have lots of questions. hugs~patti
