Jenny started out as the Japanese version of Barbie! Mattel worked with a Japanese company to create a doll that the Japanese consumer would like back in 1981. This was Takara Barbie. In 1986, Mattel withdrew their license,... and Jenny became "Jenny"! Jenny is a 17-year-old high school student from Los Angeles (born on August 1st under the sign of the Leo). And has just as many interested and careers as Barbie it seems!

I really enjoy Jenny and her friend's adorable features and more anime-styled looks. (I'm a big fan of colored hair and uber-cute hair styles!)

Jenny dolls often aren't very expensive either... about the same price as a Barbie, somewhere between $20 and $50 typically. They often come with lots of accessories (including sometimes boots or jackets with real zippers, etc...!)

There are three major types of Jenny bodies. One is the PG (PHotogenic) body, and the second is the regular jenny body (with joints at about the same place as a typical Barbie...) And the last type... my personal favorite, is the SAJ (Super Action Jenny) body type. SAJ bodies have joints at the wrist, ankles, elbows and knees and a few other places allowing them tons of posability. Unfortunately, most recent Jenny dolls come with the PG (Photogenic) Body which is like a bendy doll type. They are actually a little squishy, which is very cute! (but doesn't allow for as much posability as the SAJ body.) Even so, ... the SAJ body is not as posable as the Volks or NDR bodies.

I still need to photograph my dolls (and their outfits) so for now these are photos from the dealers I bought them from. :)
