Problem Transaction with SugarOverdose - RESOLVED

    Overview of issues:

SugarOverdose asked to trade some clothing for my doll, which I listed as a Dikadoll Peach as this was the doll I thought I had. The doll was on the marketplace for $150, but as it happened I in fact had a Berry not a Peach as I had thought. When she made me aware of this I apologised and immediately offered her to return the doll and when the items she sent arrived I would send them back to her, she declined this offer. We agreed that she would make an outfit for my Resinsoul Mei and she said that a shirt, waistcoat, trousers and coat would be worth the $150 value of the doll. I agreed to the trade but the items she sent me are not of a reasonable quality. Additionally, she was unable to complete the commission and sent only the shirt, waistcoat and trousers. When they arrived I discovered loose threads all over the items and many of the details had been glued on, with glue residue all over them. Additionally she had added items I had not asked for "as freebies" (to make up the value) but these are of a similarly poor quality. The hems on the sleeves of the dress she sent are actually glued together with what appears to be superglue, as it has gone stiff and crunchy.

I contacted her when I received the items to express my disappointment with the quality and offered her three options for resolution: 1. Re-make the outfit with higher quality materials and I would send her back the items she sent me. 2. Send me the doll back and I would send her the clothing back. 3. Send me the $150 value of the doll.

She had already ordered another Peach head, as this was the doll she wanted, so when she refused point blank to work with me on a resolution to these issues I said I would work with her and offered to accept only $112 as the new head would have cost $38. She declined this offer also. At this point I retract this offer due to her attitude and unwillingness to accept responsibility for her part of the trade. As resolution to this I would now like the full $150 she owes me or return of my full doll.

    Here is all our correspondence:

My sales thread. Please note that there are several clear pictures of the face and I would have been happy to take more. I accept that I should have double-checked which doll I had and listed it correctly, this is entirely my fault and is the reason why I have tried to be understanding and pleasant throughout this transaction. However, I find it hard to believe that at no point did SugarOverdose notice that this was a different mould to the one she wanted; personally when I have my heart set on a specific doll I generally know what the doll looks like and would notice if the sales pictures didn't quite match up to my expectations. I would at least ask for more photographs in different lights and request the seller to check this before making any offers. At this point I am starting to believe that SugarOverdose was well aware of the doll I had and the mistake I had made and still initiated the trade.

I'm after some trousers, a blouse/shirt/top, and maybe a hoodie as well? Ideally I'd like something steampunky but I realise that might be difficult if it's completely out of your usual style! :)

If that's something you can do then that's great! :D How much do you think that would come to? :) If not then that's no problem either, since she'll be naked when she gets here I'll take what I can get so I can choose something from your selection instead, though there are a few outfits that catch my eyes so I might be able to make up any difference in prices with some of them anyway :)

Let me know anyway, and thanks so much for your interest! ^_^
    ~Ehryn
After all of this kicked off I mistakenly thought I had mentioned to her that her items were not my dolls' style but reviewing this I realise I didn't make this completely clear.

I could either sew some and you can pick one in my shop, or I can sew for her whole value^^ that´s up to you!^^

    I'd love:

    A short-sleeved open collar blouse: http://csimg.pricesavvy.co.uk/srv/GB...tch-blouse.jpg
Like this but plainer, I'm not bothered by the details :)

A dark brown waistcoat with brass buttons: http://assets.burdastyle.com/project...jpg?1249011492
They don't have to be real buttons, just buttonish looking is fine :) Like this but without the details in leather, just a plain brown material is fine, in this under-bust style. In more like this colour: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...0,190,246_.jpg

Matching trousers (dark brown with brass buttons): http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thin...l&tid=20945331

Aaaand if this all doesn't cover the cost so far, then a jacket would be really neat :D

An aviator jacket style collar, but with a longer design, like a combination of these two coats:
    http://www.talbotgreen.com/img/uploa...-from-next.jpg
    http://www.ohalloranco.com/media/ima...d_traveler.jpg
Pretty much like the second one with a more open collar and none of the fur and big cuffs :)

Do you think all of that could be possible, or am I dreaming? :sweat

If all of that is impossible, then just some trousers, blouses and that sort of casual thing is fine :D

    Let me know! :D
    ~Ehryn
Note: The last picture I sent was not working, but SugarOverdose completed the commission before I was able to send her more images.

I'm not sure about the jacket tho sinze there's fur inside and that doesn't always turn out so well when it's this small : ( but I will try and if I can't do it well, I'll just make casual things for you instead!
That should alltogether cover little Peach. ^_^ It will take me a few days to sew all, so maybe we can ship Monday so I have time to go shop some fabrics? x3 <3

I need them all to fit a Resinsoul girl, she's very slim and has the large bust I think.

As for shipping, I'm happy to send her on Monday but can I see pics of the finished items before we send? I'm free all day Monday though so sending that day is not a problem at all, there's a post office at the end of my fiance's street so I can easily get there :) She's already all packaged up and ready to go ^_^

Thank you SO much! :D I hope you love Peach, she really is a great little doll and a fantastic poser, I just don't know what to do with her :sweat

I had to send this message from my phone as I wasn't able to get to a computer and I wanted her to know I would get the measurements as soon as I could. As it happened it took me a couple of days due to a number of family issues and illness that arose. Additionally I forgot to reply to her other message, this - again - is my mistake. Unfortunately I cannot anticipate things like this happening suddenly, although I try to ensure I keep in contact with people I am in transactions with.

    ~Ehryn
As you can see, I sent this message at gone 2am because I felt bad having not contacted her with the measurements so I sent the message before I went to sleep, despite having been up all day dealing with the aforementioned family issues.

I wasn't sure if you meant her waist or hips so I decided to do both, and also the length the jacket needs to be. I'm all better now so let me know if there are any other measurements you want :)

    Hips: 18cm
    Waist: 13cm
    Bust: 18cm
    Jacket Length: 14cm

A couple extra too just in case :)

    Hip to Ankle: 22cm
    Shoulder to Wrist: 11cm

I hope that all helps! Have a great holiday ^_^ and once again, I am SO sorry about the delay :(

    ~Ehryn
As you can see, I ended up falling ill as well which was very unfortunate but I was literally unable to get out of bed and was off work as well.

    Kind regards, [name omitted].
Unfortunately she has decided to take the pictures she sent me down, and I didn't think to take copies of them. They were pictures of the items from a reasonable distance with no close-ups of the detail. I will admit now that I had reservations about the items upon seeing them but after considering it I decided that I would accept what she had made for me as I really was desperate for the items and would just see what they looked like when I got them. They didn't look much like what I was hoping for and expecting but were reasonable and I hoped they would look nice on my doll.

Unfortunately I won't be able to ship now until next Friday as I'm working pretty solidly until then :( So there's no rush to post the clothes out, I'm happy for us both to post on the same day :)

The outfit looks lovely, the waistcoat isn't quite what I was expecting but it's my fault for not being clear so I'm happy with it :)

    Thank you so much!
    ~Ehryn
As you can see, I didn't give her a lot of details about my dolls as I foolishly expected her to choose from those which she wanted to send something for and ask me what kind of things would be suitable. This was a big mistake!

If you could do something, anything in a darkish blue for a slim/small SD I would love you forever, I have a Souldoll Celina in much need of a blue item to wear, even if it's nothing fancy X3 Let me know if you need any more measurements, I'm now home and have full access to all my doll except the tinies (all of which are out for mods or painting!) so I can get measurements to you if you need them :)
I told her the waistcoat was fine because I didn't want to have to wait even longer again for her to re-make it. Again, I should have been more specific about the item I wanted for my Souldoll but as you can see here I did at least ask for something in a dark blue specifically for a Souldoll Celina and the item she actually sent was light blue with black detail in a rather lolitaish style that is not appropriate for my girl. That's fine, as I wasn't really specific, but the sewing is dreadful - I make no pretence at being able to sew but I believe that even I could make something of the quality she has provided me.

I will do my best to ship on Friday but as my fiancé (who I was relying on to give me a lift to the Post Office >_<) is currently having car troubles and has to get the train to visit me it may be Saturday morning instead - is that okay? Both of my parents are available Saturday so they will be able to take me if I don't get it sent on Friday :)

    Thanks again :)

My sister's car came home on Friday and by Saturday had a completely flat tyre, she was already using her spare so my parents had to take her to find a new one, this took most of the day. Despite the shipping delays the doll still arrived to her before her package arrived to me.

Sorry for the mistake, I honestly didn't realise.

    Thanks for letting me know.
This message was, again, sent very quickly from my phone. She wasn't, in fact, sold to me as a Peach, I have since realised. I got her in a trade and I remember I was looking at both Peach and Berry and eventually decided on Berry - though I was sure I had requested Peach. I recall the transaction vaguely (it happened about a year ago I think?) but I do remember that the reason I decided on Berry instead of Peach was because I had just been cleaning a doll with a mouth similar to Peach's and it was a real pain, so I decided on Berry in the end as her mouth was softer. As I said, I take full responsibility for the mistake in the thread, I should have checked her Certificate of Authenticity before listing her but I really didn't think to.

I received the clothes a few days later. As I mentioned earlier in the thread the quality is extremely poor, certainly not $150 worth! She also added a load of items I have no use for and did not ask for and was not expecting "as freebies". There are loose threads all over the items, the 'detail' on the blouse is very badly sewn on and the details on the trousers have been glued on with what looks like a glue gun as there are strands of residue all over the front. Additionally she has closed them with thick pieces of velcro.

    Quote Originally Posted by Ehryn

I am sorry to say that I am extremely disappointed with the quality :( The fabric used on the commission order is so thin I can see right through it and it is really scratchy and just generally very poor quality. The details appear to be mostly glued on and I really don't feel that velcro is a suitable method for closing up a commission outfit supposedly worth $150! The sleeves of the dress are just glued, not even hemmed and the glue has hardened and is now crunchy. Not only that but not a single one of the items you sent to make up the cost is even remotely appropriate for any of my dolls and there is no way I'll be able to sell them on for even close to the $150 value of the doll :(

I really hate having to tell you this, especially as I had the mix up with the doll, but please could I send you the items back and would you please re-make them to a better standard or send me the $150 for the value of the doll. Alternatively you are welcome to simply post back the doll to me but as I know you've already ordered another head for her I realise that won't be a preferable solution for you.

I commissioned another member some time ago for an SD sized suit which cost me $100, I received a 6 piece fully lined suit made from suit material, brocade silk and vintage lace so I was expecting at least a similar quality given the $50 extra value of the doll and the smaller size. I would have been happy to wait as long as you needed to get all the items I asked for (including the coat, and would have sent you additional pictures since the first link I sent didn't work) at a reasonable quality but it just feels very rushed and you have thrown in a bunch of 'extras' that I don't need and can't use even though I did tell you in the first place that the items you had in stock were not my dolls' style.

I hope this doesn't come across as mean or unpleasant, I'm trying to just put the facts down in a neutral manner as I don't want this to be a bad transaction :) I'm sure we can resolve it! So please don't feel like I'm attacking you as I really don't intend it that way, but I do feel that we need to do something to resolve this happily :)

Please let me know what you think.
    ~Ehryn
I did not get a reply to this message so I forwarded the message to her again, in case she didn't receive it, and sent her the following message:

I have tried to be calm, polite and understanding, even though I actually cried when I got the items because they were so bad.

You made me very upset by telling me my clothea wrer so bad. SD clothes are a lot easier to sew since they are bigger. You said they were fine and you saw my other sewings. You only told me to do a blue skirt, neither what styles your other dolla had. So how was I supposed to know.

Additionally, there were plenty of pictures in my thread of the doll I had so you should have been able to tell that it was a Berry not a Peach if Peach was the one that you had your heart set on. I have taken responsibility for my mistake as I genuinely didn't realise I had a different doll and offered you a solution, and it was your choice to decline. I'm willing to work with you on this, however. I looked up the cost of a Peach head - $38 - and so if you send me $112 only I will be satisfied that the transaction has been completed in a successful manner.

Your options then are: send $112 to my paypal account: [omitted] or return my doll to me in full. I will not keep the clothes, I will return them to you tomorrow and you are free to sell them - since you believe they are worth $150 you should be perfectly able to sell them on DoA and recover the money you owe me.

I'm sorry to sound harsh, I am genuinely trying to be as pleasant and understanding as possible but I simply cannot accept the items you sent me. At no point did I ask for a skirt and I told you that your items were not my dolls style so you should have either asked me what else I wanted in trade since you were unwilling to complete the coat part of the commission or completed my commission as agreed.

Please respond by this time tomorrow.

    Many thanks,
    Ehryn
I now realise that although I didn't ask for a skirt specifically, I did ask for something blue for my girl. I also didn't make it completely clear that her clothes were not my dolls' style, but I did ask her for pictures of the items she was sending before she sent them and she only sent me a picture of the commission items.

You cannot order clothes and then change your mind, this is ridicilous. And on top of that insult my work just because I am not as good as some other person. I still did send you a picture, and before that pictures of my other sewings. I will not pay both shipping again and that much for a 2nd hand body and all the trouble and 2 month wait for a new head. Neither will I sew anything more for you to tell me your unsatisfied with.
I will speak with the moderators about this and get back to you afterwards.

However, you also need to take responsibility for the items you sent me - your pictures were not clear enough on the detail of the items and I was not aware that there is glue all over the front of the trousers, nor could I tell from the photographs the quality of the material you used. The commission outfit itself is not - even if it were of high quality - worth $150 therefore the items you included in the package could not be considered 'freebies'. I also could not tell from any of your photos that there are stray threads all over the place.

Feel free to contact the mods, that is my next step also. I have not sent the clothing back today as I have been advised not to.
This concludes our correspondence as it stands currently.

I will take some pictures of the clothes as soon as I can, but unfortunately as I am working a lot of overtime right now it may be Thursday (my day off) before I am able to get any that are of a decent quality to show the issues I have with the items she sent me. I asked a lot of advice before messaging her and it was agreed that I wasn't being unreasonable and that my tone was polite - this was my intention. I have done my best to be mature and understanding, insofar as this is possible when advising someone that their items are not of a reasonable quality for the item they are trading for. I am trying to be patient but SugarOverdose is completely unwilling to take any responsibility for her mistake. I accept that I made a mistake with my sales thread, but I do not feel it is fair for me to lose $150 for it.

    So to reiterate:

SugarOverdose needs to send my doll back to me, in full, or pay me $150 for the cost of it. I am not charging her for the shipping cost as it wasn't that much. She had an opportunity to save $38 by taking responsibility (I would have allowed her to keep the head and sell it if she wished as well, so I would be losing $38 completely essentially) but as she has refused I am no longer willing to lose this money.

If she completely refuses to take back the clothes I will list them on DoA for free, as I do not believe them to be worth more than their shipping, and give them to someone who will get some use out of them. I have been advised by my legal adviser not to return the clothing to her at this time until this transaction is completed happily.

SugarOverdose I am trying to be pleasant and I understand you are hurt but I genuinely cannot afford to lose $150 on this. You have gained a doll, I have gained nothing. I just want what you owe me. Please do the right thing, you have my paypal address - I won't even ask you to cover the charges.

Thank you Zagzagel - I hope she will see this thread and realise that I'm not trying to make her feel bad or scam her, I just want something worth the doll I sent her.

I have tried to take responsibility for my mistake, I offered her a resolution for that before I even received the clothing she sent me but she doesn't seem willing to even negotiate with me. I'm not sure what to do, this is the first bad transaction I've had on DoA

This makes me really sad. The clothes I sent are NOT dreadful! I went to fashion & design school. Doll's clothes cannot look as good as human clothes because of the size, especially MSD cannot even be compared to SD - they are a lot harder to do due to smaller size.
I threw in lots of extra clothes just to be nice, she had not given me anything to relate to regarding the other dolls, other than to make something dark blue for her girl. I made a dark/lightblue striped blue skirt with black lace. How could I know this would be so absolutely out of place?
Also, with the first set of clothes, she told me the details did not bother her. So I glued on tiny buttons on the front. The glue is for textile and can be removed if you scratch gently with your nail on it.
Also, the brown fabric was really pricey, and the time spent on measuring, making the pattern, and sewing (and finding the fabrics in stores) makes them worth some.
And to be so harsh about how bad my clothes were in comparision to some other persons SD-comission (SD is easier to do details on) hurt me, therefore I might have sounded a bit off.
I was not being rude when telling her she actually sent me the Wrong mold.

The reason for me to decline her offer of trading back was
    1. I cannot sell the clothes especially sewn for her doll's slim measures and her style without a hard time, so I'd rather keep the doll. This I told her.
    2. I had already ordered a new head for the Dikadoll body. This I told her.
Therefore I wanted to keep the body and re-send her the head. But she declined and wanted money for the body. I will not pay the much for only the body, when I had been expecting to get me the Peach-doll, not to have to buy a new head, wait another 2 month and so on.

I guess there is no other way than for me to send the whole doll back, buy a new body for the peach head, and try to sell off the clothes if I find someone who own a similar doll.
Because I most certainly do not want to be banned from the marketplace because of something like This.
I just wanted you both to know my side of this.
If needed, I will post pictures of the clothes I sent her as they looked just before I shipped them out.

Hope we can solve this in a good way.

Dear, I know that the clothing you sent me even you admitted were below par:

    http://dayviews.com/sugarydesign/506696218/

You say the trousers are 'cp' and that the fabric was hard to work with and that you needed to practice with them. You also quote an SD sized version of this outfit as being worth 280 Kronor - about $40. So please don't lie to me and say that you have any disillusions that this outfit is worth $150.

I know professional and amateur seamstresses and not one of them would leave loose threads hanging off their seams nor would they leave glue residue - especially if, as you say, it is easy to pick off. I said I wasn't bothered about the details meaning I wasn't bothered about you including them, not that I didn't care if they were glued on shoddily. They certainly wouldn't send out an item they felt was below par, especially if trading for an item of significantly higher value.

As you can see from the pictures, it is impossible to tell that there are loose threads although now that I look closely you can see a little of the glue residue on the beads on the front of the trousers. You also can't see that she has sewn a piece of ribbon around the collar of the blouse.

There are many people who own Resinsoul dolls, you will have no difficulty in selling the outfit on the marketplace as long as you price it reasonably. I would gladly purchase an outfit like this for a reasonable sum expecting the quality to match the price. However, I would not purchase this outfit at $150 at the current quality.

I would like to point out that the transaction was going fine until the point at which I PMed SugarOverdose about the clothing - up until then I am perfectly happy with our correspondence and she did not become rude until I messaged her about the clothing. I even asked my friends to look over the PM before I sent it to make sure I was being polite as I do have a tendency to go off half-cocked and shoot my mouth off and I really did not want to hurt her feelings. I still don't. Everyone told me that I was factual and polite so I sent the message. In fact, several people advised me that I was being a doormat and shouldn't be as polite as I was but I was willing to give SugarOverdose the benefit of the doubt, given that my request was quite complex and I figured she'd just misunderstood what I wanted.

I will consider this resolved when I get my doll back in the post and when it arrives will send the clothing back to SugarOverdose as my legal adviser has told me to keep hold of them until this transaction is resolved.

Hello again, I have had some time to actually think today. I have been under a lot of stress lately, and having a hard time coping with life. This hobby is one of the few things that still makes me feel warm inside. Knowing I would get a new doll got me carried away. I was selfish and only thought of me as being right to be sad about getting the wrong doll. But looking at this from an other perspective, of course I realize that the other person must feel even worse..
I know that this particually set didn't have the standard of $150, I did not put my best effort nor had the time to do it properly - but after I sent the picture, Ehryn seemed to be happy with them. After she told me she was not, I guess I was ashamed. And let myself fall into that feeling completely, feeling I had to defend myself.
But that really has nothing to do with either my sewing, the doll nor Ehryn. It is only personal, and it was very, very wrong of me to let that affect others.
Ehryn, I am very, very sorry for making life hard for you. For actually lying to you to save my own skin. I have brought nothing good with all of this. I am usually not like this as a person, which you seem to have noticed, and it pains me that I ruined that trust. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. You do not have to send the clothes back since you'd have to pay for shipping. And Berry is packed and ready to ship as sson as you confirm your adress. I have not taken her out of the box, but I did stick some bubblewrap inside for her to hug.
Please get back to me, and I will ship her asap.
    Kind regards

I sent my address via PM.

Yes, I still have your address - I don't delete messages for any transaction until it is completed and I also have the packaging from your parcel still which has your return address on it So don't worry, the clothes will be on their way back to you as soon as the doll is received - I have a week of holiday coming up so hopefully she will arrive during that time so I can ship the clothes back the same day

SugarOverdose - it has never at any point been my intention to make you feel bad so please don't! I feel that it was more your inexperience with the hobby that has caused these issues rather than bad intentions so I don't hold any grudges towards you at all You have stepped up and taken responsibility for your mistake and forgiven me for mine and so I do not feel (and never did feel) any animosity towards you

If it would make life easier for you given that you have shown you are genuinely remorseful about the way this transaction has ended up, I would like to reinstate my previous offer of the $112 to my Paypal if it would make things easier for you and you can keep the entire doll, wrong head included, even if you decide to list Berry for sale on the marketplace. I would still like to return the clothes to you even though it would mean paying return postage but if you would prefer me not to send them back I will, as mentioned, give them away for free on the Marketplace as I would feel completely wrong keeping something that I have not paid for and do not deserve to keep - the resolution is up to you dear.

I am so sorry that you have ended up feeling so bad about this whole thing. It really was not my intention for things to turn out this way and I do believe that you were upset about getting the wrong doll - a mistake that was entirely and 100% my fault - and that I was unintentionally unkind about your sewing. I want you to know that I don't think your sewing is bad as such, just that I didn't believe it was worth the cost of the doll. As I mentioned I would have been glad to purchase items of this quality from the marketplace at a price reflecting them - just not $150 I think I had rather high expectations of you after reviewing my messages and realising I really wasn't very clear. I do still think the clothes were below the standard I would expect for the price, but I also believe I could have been more clear and precise about my request to ensure that this was not an ambiguous request - particularly about the blue item for my Souldoll which I realise now I have been unfair with you about.

I hope that we can resolve this amicably one way or another and that we can both learn positively from this transaction and remain friendly in the future I was genuinely impressed with the items you showed me before the commission suggestion, that is the only reason I agreed to it in truth. Your outfits are very unique and cute and it was almost painful to refuse them on the grounds that I didn't have any dolls to suit them!

Take care and please don't stress or feel bad about this transaction I know we can work something out together!

Thank you so much for being so understanding.
And thank you for still offering me Berry, but sadly I don't think I have the funds right now nor feel that I deserve her. >_<
Please just let me pay the shipping cost for the clothes. I will need your paypal
Berry is packed with your adress on and ready to go home.
She will be shipped thuesday next week, so you can expect her a few days after that.
Good luck with selling her, from what I´ve heard Berry is a bit more sought after than Peach. ^_^
Please get back to me when she has arrived!
    Kind regards

Just wanted to keep this thread up to date, Sugar and I are in contact via PM and she has sent Berry back to me yesterday I will update when she arrives, though I will be away for a week from Tuesday and will be unable to post the clothing back to Sugar until I return from my vacation. My parents will let me know if the doll arrives while I'm away though and once the clothes have arrived safely back with SugarOverdose this transaction can be closed as resolved happily
