I just got 2 pair of those new styled SD13/Gr/16/17 option hands in Shadow resin... If anybody's wondering how they measure up on a Graffiti. I'm surprised-- they're just the same size as SD13 hands! I thought they'd be bigger.

The nails are shorter and less pointed, and the knuckles are more angular. But the palm size, finger length, & finger thickness look about the same. They've got more veins-and-knuckles than SD13, but nowhere near as veiny as SD17. If you ignore the silly color-mismatch, Reika's left hand now looks all grown-up and suave.





So that's really nice - at least they're no more oversized on a Graffiti than his own SD13 hands are. I still privately find both of those hands too big on those tiny skinny Graffiti arms... but as long as he's wearing long sleeves, it looks great. I think Reika wants a pair. (Yuki doesn't. They're too butch. ^^)

Now I have to go put them on their intended SD17 Shadow recipient... which will require getting out the clamps & stringing-hook... SD17 default hands have the wristball attached, so these option hands come with their own wristballs, gotta use them. Will wrangle that later.

Jo77, I love the face up your Shirou has! He really reminds me of the Hijikata sculpt with that expression he's got. You've got so many sexy SD17 boys I'm not sure which one I've got a bigger crush on!

JennyNemesis, congrats on the SD17 hands! I never expected there to be such a big difference in skin tone between the normal and the shadow, looks quite lovely!

Hello Faldio, you're looking very suave today

I have a followup about these option hands, after spending the morning wrestling with Kimo's arm-stringing. (Volks strung him too tight for me to get the hooks out, the knot was hung up inside his torso, the vanished KIPSes were clogging everything up, he's a mess.)

I'm not convinced I like the fit on SD17! The ball seems too big for the hand, or too big for the wrist, or something. Something's awkward.

Or maybe it's just my eye needs to get used to it, seeing so much wristball. ^^ I think I could get used to the small size, if I kept them on for awhile. At-a-glance they don't look that much smaller than SD17 hands. And , more importantly, I don't think they're too small for his face. And the color match is perfect! But, I do like bigger hands better on the SD17 body.

(This one also has a mobility problem, but it's probably from the problem with Kimo's stringing - every time I try to move it, the hook snags inside the ball. I need to do some tinkering.)

Wow, these new hands may actually make it finally possible for my friend to make her Cristal boy SD17 so he'll finally have the right height difference with my Peroth.

Just noticed that if the 2 different hands aren't together, you can't really see the size-difference much, unless you're looking for it. Bracelets or long sleeves would camouflage the difference in wristball. I didn't think the SD17's own hands could be used to mix-and-match with the new, but that could easily pass in a photoshow. Just don't zoom in on the veins or lack thereof.

The ball looks slightly bigger than SD17's ball but... it doesn't look like it's noticeable... how about the wristball system? did volks use the same SD13 system for SD17?

The SD17 hands have a different wristball: smaller, with the slot on the opposite end, and it's attached to the hand by a string. When you use the One-Touch thing, you pull both the hand & ball off, and the hook sits right into the arm.

Both the old & new SD13/Gr hands have that bigger wristball, with the bigger slot, and it's not attached. When you use One-Touch, you just remove the hand, & seat the hook into the ball; the ball stays on the arm.

I always thought the SD13 wristball was too big on Graffiti to begin with; never thought that to be a good choice on Volks's part in the first place. Graffiti & SD17 both have such narrow wrists. The chunkier SD13 wears it the best, imho.

It's true, the new ones are nicely masculine without being so veiny & huge. Even I wish the SD17 hands would have fewer veins-- although I do still prefer the bigger size. Especially for Kimo, with his big Shiro face. ^^
