I pulled out my Rosettes for new spam and noticed that the screw-eye of my beautiful Cream White Fir has punctured her palm!!! I'm not sure how this happened (dolly stigmata?) but it totally bummed me out. No spam from me until I finish my pout over my Fir's ruined pretty little palm.

I had the same trouble everyone has with the screw eye, it pulled out of her hand and I had to screw it back in with some superglue to hold it in place. I screwed it in very carefully and it didn't show at all. Now that I see it there is a bump on her palm and clearly the dark color of the screw eye showing through. It must have expanded/contracted with the super glue and caused this bubble or forced itself just deep enough to break through the surface of her palm. I'm not sure but hands are my favorite parts to my dolls. I felt sick seeing it on her lovely delicate little palm. Of course, I'm ultimately planning on getting a Souloid body for her anyway, once Souldoll offers it A La Carte. I decided I can't have a little robot Rosette girl without that sexy awesome robot body. It still makes me so furious to see the screw eye damage her hand so badly. Damn horrible design!

Another thread already? I wonder if it could be the way they did the hand design? Is your doll on the Pure body or Muse body Anneke?

Anneke, I can only sympathize with you... hands are extremely important to me in a doll (I will admit to first paying attention to Rosettes because of their lovely hands!), so it must be extremely disappointing to have one break/ruined.

Perhaps Soom will sell you a new pair? Hopefully, the new kind without the screw?

I hope they don't still have that system. I wouldn't want that to happen with my 2 girls on order

whitewolf: Soom luckily retired the stupid eye-screw system for the wrists because of the problems they cause. The new girls certainly won't have them!

derilan85: my cream white Fir is from the Extra Curricular series, before they introduced Muse girls. I think probably some of the last LE Rosette girls to feature the sucky screw eye system!

Anna: that's a good idea to ask Soom. Since I have a $700 order for a bronze skinned Rosette girl and all kinds of extra goodies I would think they'd help me out a little bit with new hands, haha! I sure am a good enough customer by now I think! I'll take a picture of the damage and keep my fingers crossed that they will let me buy new hands at least. Regardless of if I want to get a different body for her, I'd hate to think that the one I currently have is going to be ruined for resale/reshelling if I wanted to get some value from it later on.

Anneke When I had a problem with the screweye, Soom sold me an extra pair of hands, and even did the body blushing to match what I had on the doll! It seems likely that they will oblige you, and this could be the perfect time to ask for the white hands, since they have just offered the white skin on the special, and will certainly be making up dolls in that color in the next short while.

Oddly enough, although I now have the hands with the solid 1 piece hand and wrist, I found when I put them on that it was VERY difficult to take the hands off. Every time that I tried, it was likely to damage the end edges of the arm as I tried to capture the elastic with tools. Finally, I put the screweye hands back on. With those, you can manoever the separate wrist piece to allow the hand to be unhooked so much more easily! So, until the old style fails completely, I will keep the hands on that I can unhook without damaging the doll! At least, I have the others in case.

Yes, that's absolutely true about the new type hands being a pain to take off. I have a few dresses/tops that have slim sleeves and to put them on, I must take off my girls' hands. Well, after trying that procedure once, I won't be repeating it. The Rosette forearms are so delicate that I'm afraid that any tools I use to take off the hands and keep the elastic in place will crack the resin. I really wish that Soom would make magnetic hands, or one-touch system hands (like Volks) for their dolls.

On the topic of hands (and on a slightly more cheerful note), I thought people who participated in the Free Choice Event might find this bit of trivia interesting:

If you bought the no. 1 hands in the FCE, you'll be getting Summer Term Marguerite's LE hand combination.
If you bought the no. 2 hands in the FCE, you'll be getting Summer Term Violet's LE hand combination.
If you bought the no. 3 hands in the FCE, you'll be getting Summer Term Fir's LE hand combination.
If you bought the no. 4 hands in the FCE, you'll be getting Summer Term Ameria/Camellia's LE hand combination.

And in other news entirely, I think I might have names for my girls - Adelaide (for Delilah) and Sophie (for Marguerite). These girls are going to be my first foray into Victorian characters, so the names still feel very strange to me

I've been working on room plans for them as well - I'm thinking they'll need a bedroom, a classroom, a library and a music room, at the very least. The dining hall/kitchen and garden can probably wait until I know whether I want any more girls or just these two...

I'm also thinking they'll have to be collapse-able rooms, since I don't really have room in my house for 4+ 1:4-scale rooms

Are you saying that if we bought a Fir and the no 3 combination then we'll end up with 2 pairs of the same hands or do you mean that we'll end up with basic hands and the hands they had in the limited editions?

    Hello, new thread!

Sorry about the palm, Anneke I hope you can manage to do something about it, or order a new one.

Vela is back from the spa! I love how she turned out

This girl is proving to be very pick with wigs, though - even more so than Fir! The wig that I had prepared for her doesn't work at all. And, because her head is so much smaller than my other Rosette/MSD-sized girls, I have only one backup, which she is wearing in the picture. I'm not thrilled with it, but it will do for now. For those who are wig shopping for Vela, she needs size 5-6 inches. She swims in all 6-7 inch wigs I have!

I hear ya on the 5~6inch wig thing, but if it's any consolation I really like Vela in this one you have her in Does she have a name yet?

hello new Rosette thread! Is this just for muse Rosettes, or pure too? I have been neglecting my girl lately and was thinking of parting with her, but I got her out and too more pics of her and now I am horrified with myself for even thinking it :P I just love their delicate limbs and pose able bodies. I have a Fir on my wishlist now ^_^
May I share my little Valentina with you?

Anna: I agree her faceup is lovely! I adore custom faceups on Rosettes! Perhaps I will someday get one for my Armeria, but I think she does suit a simple faceup as she is a less mature sculpt than Fir x

My Delilah only took 2 months, so I think we should start seeing shipping notices for the FC girls around the end of July/early August. And speaking of the lovely little lady...
