Obitsu General Discussion - Part Two (60cm, 50cm and 40cm)

Hi everyone! Quick question for you...

I'm interested in purchasing a few items from tatabjd, but I'm not sure which size will fit my Obitsu 60cm HYBRID Boys Body the best.

    1. http://www.tatabjd.com/en/goods.php?id=216
    Size options...
    - SD 13
    - LUTS DELF/AA/AS
    - SD 13 long leg/DOT/LUTS-senior

    2. http://www.tatabjd.com/en/goods.php?id=70
    Size options...
    - SD 13
    - LUTS DELF/AA/AS
    - SD 13 long leg/DOT/LUTS-senior

I've been trying to compare various measurements, but they're all pretty close and I'm starting to get confused, haha! Any ideas?

    Thanks guys!

hum... I continue with my spam of questions, hope I am not getting annoying yet...

I was just wondering if there are any tutorials or guides on cutting up vinyl heads to open the eyes etc.? Is it dangerous... for example I know with resin that there is a lot of dust which can be carcinogenic and you have to use a dremel... it seems like with vinyl I should just be able to use an exacto knife and there shouldn't be any dust? Are there any risks with cutting it (apart from my own clumsiness with a knife! :P), or any tips that I need to know before I try?

Ive completed my first obitsu 50cm (even if I had a little faceup error)
Hickory dickory dock, three mice ran up the clock. The clock struck one, and the other two escaped with minor injuries.

True that. I have a Shinydoll head on a 50 cm Obitsu body, and it is a great fit. The resin/vinyl color match is very good, too. I also think proportionally it works really well.

Do you have his measurements? I am not sure what the measurements of an obitsu boy are, but I am sure if you get them you could compare them to Delf and SD13 measurements.

    Delf Measurements:
    http://www.denofangels.com/doawiki/i...ts_Senior_Delf

This table has Volks sd13 measurements:
    http://descendingtwilight.webs.com/b...surements.html

but I have no source for obitsu male measurements

EDIT - Somehow I missed that you already compared various measurements... I guess as long as the measurements are bigger or the same as the obitsu measurements it should be fine. I think the main areas to worry about are leg circumference, chest size, shoulder width and leg length. It is a fitted shirt so if it is on the bigger size it should be ok but if it is smaller then there is no way it will fit. The pants look like they might be stretchy? If they stretch you should have no problem...

did you use the 40 cm head for your 50cm?

is the dollzone white near to the obitsu's white skin tone?

Thank you for the detailed reply! Yes, I'm comparing the measurements that I have, but I can't seem to find certain ones, like the arm and leg circumferences. The measurements that I DO have, sometimes match in one area, but not in another. I mean, one size has larger hips and a smaller waist, while the other has a smaller waist and larger hips, haha!

Anyway, I'll keep looking into it. Thanks!

The only real danger to yourself will be the sharp knife blade. There's really no dust or gases released in the knife cutting of vinyl that would require a respirator or special ventilation. The thickness if the vinyl will determine how fast the material will cut. With the actual thickness of the material behind the eyes varying and unknown there can be a natural unevenness to the cut. Moving from a thicker area to a thinner area unexpectedly can cause the blade to really take off quickly and uncontrollably. The biggest trick might be remaining slow and steady and staying on course. My blade of choice is a new x-acto #11. Cut slowly, resisting the urge to speed ahead.
Once your eye holes are cut you may find you want to bevel the inside edges so the eyes will fit farther forward in the eye holes. The tool of choice is an eye beveling tool, a round grinding ball the diameter of the eyes to be used. These either come on a handle for hand operation or on a small shaft for use with a Dremel or similar tool. Now you're talking dust and fumes and gases! Actually, the vinyl will bevel quite rapidly (a few seconds with the Dremel) so minimal gases and fumes will be produced but do take precautions to protect yourself from the bit of dust produced (a particle mask).

This thread has been a such lovely source of information! ^^ Hrm I'm looking to put vmf50 Type-A thighs (the Sonico body) on the vmf00 50 Type-B (the muscled bodeh) butt/abs; does anyone know if that will fit (and look) good? And those parts would go on a 50cm obitsu body base.

I found a pretty cool hybrid, so I thought I'd share here ^^

    http://blog.goo.ne.jp/qp-kou-qp/e/d6...736a8a51d553ac
It's an obitsu50 torso/ obitsu47 legs hybrid, with those deliciously toned vmf50 type B abs! I think it looks pretty rad.
It seems the torso skeleton is obitsu 50, and the rest of the frame is obitsu 47..so no modding of parts required? :'D

**also, is anyone able to see the colour match between DOD normal (circa 2009) and a recent obitsu white skin? I would be very grateful m(_ _)m

Type A thighs appear to be available from Yamato. (Fire up your proxy!)
Type A thigh vinyl it will fit, as will most other thigh vinyls. Also stock Obitsu 50cm thighs will work well.

Anna Marie (on the left) is a Type B with Type D thighs.
Hyacinth (on the right) is a Type B with stock 50cm thighs.

I agree I love her eyes, they seem kind of melancholy sweet to me <3

I ordered some vmf50 type-f legs off yahoo Japan, already planning my second obitsu ^^;; I feel like Sonico can't be happy until she has a sister, plus I always liked the base obitsu 50 so I really want one. Just got to decide on a head... I want another anime style one to match well with Sonico :3
