The girls were happy to receive swimsuits...if only they had a pool.
While they wait they play with their pet guinea pig.

I'm just now breaking down and getting one of these cuties. I've been lurking on an IH group site watching these little girls for months. (Makes me sound like a voyeur, or worse yet, a child stalker. Yuck!) Anyway, finally found one that needed a little TLC so bought her & sent her off to Mo Manning for a new face-up. We're waiting on a new wig so I don't even have her yet. But am getting very anxious. It's great to see all the different visions of her posted here.

JinCIncy Your daddy's girl is sure pretty. Love her little ant dress.

LaurieESW The bathing suits are great! I love the ebony resin. That is the only color I am missing.

jilllamyre Welcome to the group. Hope you have your little Elin soon

I would probably be the most unoriginal BID owner ever if I do buy one as a PG or NS Elin is almost certainly what I would get... What can I say, it's IH's fault that Elin is so popular, not mine!
The smaller dolls are adorable, and Elin definitely is very popular. She was my first BID too.

MB Lilac I have to agree! I've decided my first doll with be a KID Lonnie but I am definitely going to remain a stalker/contributor to this thread because an Elin is definitely on my wish list. : )

jillamyre congrats on your Elin, I can't wait to see pics when you get her : )

Thanks Dreya I think they are 12mm. I got them free as a promotional thing. They do seem to have a small iris though.

I finally found the Waiting Room thread and added my name to it. I almost didn't in the fear that I would accidentally delete the whole current thread and lose all the information. In retrospect, I would really only have deleted one person's entry - the one who changed it right before me. Glad that's over with. Now the wait continues. 12 days and counting.

How important do you guys feel the mobility joint is on a BID?
I've been looking at a lot of posed pictures of them and their legs seem very short. How well do they sit without them?

    Hi, Jacobean. (waving happily)

I only have the one boy so far and he has the mobility joint. When I think back on how I play with him I think he'd be able to sit okay without the jointing, but anytime I move him around or pose him in any sort of playing or relaxing position; I use the joint.

In the pic of Jaycen below, I had to do a slight bit of tweaking at the joint to get his legs to lay and curve just so for him to be reclining in this chair. And I've used in for pictures when he's sitting in his play cars or in his JID Cousin's "real" car, so.....

One of the reasons I was drawn to the BIDs was because all of the other child dolls I'd had over the years just didn't have enough articulation for me to get those real types of playing pictures that I wanted, so I'm all for the added articulation and the additional possibilities with posing.

I know others who are bothered by the extra fiddling around that you have to do with the jointing, though, so I'm sure there are probably ways to get the same, or at least similar, posing without it. I do plan to order at least one of the BIDs I want with the general jointing to compare and I plan to do the same thing with my KIDs and JIDs. My larger size ladies won't have it, but that's more for esthetics and the clean line for costumes and some outfits. Not sure about my future big guys. My SID male has them, but I haven't handled him enough to judge whether or not he really needs them.

Hope that helped a little bit,
    ~Sonya~

    Hey hey!
Amazingly helpful thank you! I'm leaning towards getting it right now as I see how adorable and casual Jaycen is sitting. (also if I don't use it I know not to get it on my KID next year.)
    Thanks again!

i too prefer the extra joints for posing. to me that is the best part of bjd's it gives me the maneuverability i always wished my dolls had when i was growing up.

I'm still kickin' myself for having so much black in that pic, but at least his hoodie shows how his upper body is curved and his blue shoes show where his legs ended up being placed. I don't think I could've gotten him as relaxed into his seat without the jointing.

I'm on the fence about which jointing to order on my first Lonnie. I see the KIDs as being in the tweenager stage when kids go back and forth between acting/being younger and trying really hard to be all grown up, so I'm thinking there would be opportunities to "catch" them in kid-like poses and moments, but I'm not sure how many that'll be. Decisions, decisions. :-)

margikins - Congrats on your order, hopefully your wait will not be too long, in the waiting room.

jacobean - Personally I like it. All my IH dolls have had it (BID and JID). If you were not going to pose the doll much and wanted 'clean lines' more for modeling (standing around) I could see the no-joint option being best. But for 'the most' play I would say the joint is a must have. (see photo posted above in thread of BIDs sitting on the floor with their guinea pig. That wouldn't be possible without the joint)

Hey would you all like to have sleeping faceplates for the BID?? I would, what fun. I asked IH about it. This is their response
    Here is IH response:
    Dear Laurie,

Thank you fo your precious idea.
I will suggest your idea at our next meeting.
Thank you very much and hace a nice day!

I guess time will tell. Perhaps if others want to see them add the sleeping faces, you might tell them too
