Dont have the time to sew up a whole new cosplay? Got things laying around that just might work? Come out this year and dress your best for Momijis Closet Gijinka Challenge! This year our Momijis Gijinka Challenge theme is My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, come on out and show us your cutie marks fellow bronies.
Note: Gijinka is a fan made re-design of an animal-like character in human form.
Rules
- You may choose to use any: pre made store bought or handmade items to create your Gijinka.
- The competition is open to anyone with a doll .
- Your inspiration should be from the most recent My Little Pony Series: Friendship is Magic, please bring a picture or figure reference.
- Don't forget to have fun and be as creative as you would like to be with these My Little Pony Ginjinka’s.
General Information
For this challenge there is no pre-registration required. The competition will be on Sunday during our Doll North Annual Meet Up where attendees will pick a fan favourite to win a prize.
If you would like to participate,bring your doll and your reference to a staff member at the meet and they will be happy to set you up. Set up for this competition will be between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. After 1:30 pm voting will be open for all attendees, no entries will be admitted after voting has begun.
Project Runway - Doll Edition
Date: Saturday May 26, 2012
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Also returning for its second year by popular demand, is Project Runway! This event asks doll enthusiasts to put their creativity and ingenuity to work. The name of the game is to create an outfit in 50 minutes out of our ‘Secret’ Materials which will be unveiled on day of the contest. You do not need to pre-register for this event just come as you are with your doll and get ready to be creative.

Project Runway Rules
- Each registered participant will work on their own project, there will be no teams this year.
- You must bring one doll of any size with you to be your 'model' for the event. This is not restricted to BJD’s. Pullips, Blythes, and other import dolls are welcome.
- You may only use the materials provided, your doll must be stripped to shoes, wig, eyes and 'under garments.’ (under garments include: tank top, bra, under wear)
- You will be given 50 minutes with the materials provided to create a garment for your doll.
Judging
Will take place immediately after the time-limit.

Theme Competition
Please Note:In order to be eligible to participate in the Doll North 2012 Theme Competition the artist must be present during the judging, and remain near their entry. Judges need to be able to ask the artist questions about their entry. Any entrant that is not present when judges review their entry will be disqualified

Display Categories
Best Cosplay Handmade By Doll Owner
In order to qualify for this section your entire outfit must be made by you (excluding hardware like buttons/snaps, belts and shoes.) Making the pattern yourself is not required – you may use downloaded or bought patterns. You will be judged based on workmanship, execution, and adherence to the theme. You will be required to bring a small sample of the material used for proof that you are the maker.
Best Customization (Face Up or Modification)
You will be judged based on the execution, degree of difficulty and coherence (keeping the modification consistent to your doll’s texture and blushing). You may be asked to describe how the face up or modification applies to the theme, or describe the techniques you applied to your work.
Display Category Rules
- All categories will be judged based on the criteria listed, and their adherence to the theme
- You may enter once in each of the Display Categories, you may not enter the same Doll twice in any of the Display Categories
- It is required for you to bring reference of your intended character or where you drew your theme from, to provide reference for the judges. This can be any medium that shows us where your inspiration came from be it you were trying to replicate a character's overall look, a specific outfit, or inspired by the colour palette or style of a CLAMP production
Photo Categories
Best Photo
Photos will be judged based on idea, adherence to the theme, and overall impact.
Best Photo Story
Photostories will be judged based on idea, adherence to the theme, and presentation.
Photo Category Rules
- All categories will be judged based on the criteria listed, and their adherence to the theme
- Photos may feature as many doll's as you like and these can be photographs of Dolls you have entered in the Display Categories.
- Doll's must be the main focus of the image, please refrain from explicit gore or nudity, if you are unsure please contact momijisdollnorth@gmail.com with questions.
- There is no size restriction for photographs, you can choose to present them as a poster, or a small photograph in a frame, or in a portfolio. The way you present is completely up to you as long as you bring a physical copy of your picture to the event.
- Photo-stories should be printed and should be between 1 - 4 pages long. We recommend displaying your photo story in a duo tang, or portfolio.
- It is required for you to bring a picture of your reference for the judges.
Overall Categories
Best In Show
Any entry in the Display Categories or Photography Categories is eligible for Best in Show, judges will take into account creativity, adherence to the theme, and impact when making their decision. Judges will come to a unanimous decision.
Fan Favourite
Any entry in the Display Categories or Photography Categories is eligible for Fan Favourite, attendees will be given a ballot and asked to write down the entry number for their favourite entry, ballots will be tallied at the end of the competition and winner announced.
Judges
Will consist of 3 members with standing in the doll community, judges will be announced at the event to avoid favoritism or tampering.

Registration
Registration can be submitted prior to the event, or anytime before the start of the Theme Competition at the Doll North room.
You will be provided with an entry number, and category slip for each entry. You will be asked to arrange your entries on one of the display tables during the BJD Competition. Judges and attendees will walk around the room to review the work and discuss your entries one on one.
Pre-Registration Date : Sunday March 25, 2012 to Wednesday May 23,2012
If you miss pre-registration we will be accepting registration at Doll North any time prior to the Theme Competition. Entrants who wish to register at our event are asked to do so by asking a staff member in the Doll North room, registration will be closed two hours prior to the theme competition. It is highly encouraged that you pre-register if you plan to enter the theme competition.
