Poeticsoul you should feel proud of yourself. Your Anson was so gorgeous. I was taken away with how good it was. When I have time I need to try and find those pictures again.

Poeticsoul, she's stunning. The outfit really feels like it completes her -- it just works so perfectly. <3

Instead of adding any petals, I've been thinking about decorating my Anson with some brass filigree... gilding the proverbial lily, but I think it could work. Either that, or some kind of abalone pattern/iridescence on the inside of her petals, with textural rough outer shell and barnacles sculpted onto the outside, and some on her face. A little bit 'beautiful grotesque,' like some of OneGreyElephant's work.

Edit to add: FunnyLori, I vote techno biotic weirdness. Especially if it involves glow-in-the-dark paint.

i love the idea of the abalone with barnacles! that sounds really neat ^^

and i found this image which cemented my decision to save up for a human moment to go with my flower one - http://images.bidorbuy.co.za/user_im...IMG_0632_1.JPG - i don't think i'll carve him down so there are holes in his resin, but rather do engravings with a similar feel.... (i'm actually working on a piece with this idea for one of my larger dolls, but she's getting a victorian lace cameo on her chest)

of course i need to finish my current moment and wait for my anson/renata/moon order to come in as well.

i have to admit, i have been contemplating altering the edges of the anson petals to appear more fin like (as in giving the edges more wave/unevenness), but i wasn't really sure if i wanted to because if something goes wrong, i could never get a replacement for her.

You guys just blow me away with your creative ideas. I keep forcing myself not to make any firm plans till my dolls are home. I have at least three more months with the layaway and shipping. I have already lost much sleep brainstorming and still nothing is sticking. All the stunning creatures and ideas posted here are overwhelming!

darkmothflame: That's a fantastic piece. Have you seen the Angel Egg dolls? Definitely some inspiration to be found there.

i have - i LOVE those dolls! (and in a perfect world, i'd have enough money to afford one lol ) - they're what inspired me to get a spare torso to try out my hand on carving. though i'm doing something much more simple where i'll use paint to make it look like lace rather than doing lots of little delicate engraved lines (i'm not that good )

though it has made me wonder about doing eyelets on the petals.... though again, it's a matter of if you mess up, there's no way to replace the parts.....

I know... I was looking and pictures of abalone shells, and I was starting to think about maaaybe trying to recreate the curving line of holes on Anson... and then I decided maybe I didn't even want to think about it.

    Although really, there's always Apoxie.

All such fabulous ideas! I'm still waiting on my Moment and still am toying with the peacock feather idea.

Now that DZ has released the human head version of Moment, I'm so tempted to get one and put it on the Souldoll Iraki robot body, so I would have a 'organic' Moment and a man made mechanical version. Humm, it's tempting...

kurogane: I still say the peacock feather idea sounds fantastic.

Here's another shot of Dark Lotus, the doll I linked to earlier -- apparently an Anson boy, and not a Moment like I thought. He's unassembled in these shots, but the painting on the petals is just fabulous. <3

And I managed to create a faux abalone effect that I like, so "Shelly" is a go... and I'd better think of a better name for her before that one sticks.

OK peacock feathers it will be.

Logodae-The Dark Lotus pictures are amazing and inspiring. I actually like the name Shelly, as it is also my name.

the dark lotus is incredible - i don't think i could ever do such fine lines! (my hands shake too much)

and it'll be great to see both the abalone shell and the peacock feathers ^^ i'm... still slowly working on my boy - 4 hours and i finished half of the largest petal on one arm.... ugh, so slow going! but i don't want to make another mistake again so i'm frequently comparing the parts to his face to make sure i've got it right.

lol - my first goal was to get him done by my birthday which is the end of may so i still have time!

    Incredible. *_____*

Does anyone know if the regular MSD heads fit on the Anson human body? I think Feilian would look adorable on it. <3

I just checked the measurements for Feilian and the Anson body. The head has a 7cm neck hole and the neck on the Anson body is 6.5cm so it should work.

you know, i wish they'd rerelease moment and anson just temporarily so i could get a tan one and do them up like dried/withered leaves....

One of the ideas I had was to do my Moment as a dying flower, since his character is in fact dying, but I wasn't sure how to get a good wilting effect with just blushing and paint, since the petals on real flowers also tend to shrivel up.

well, it's why i was thinking leaves - they tend not to shrivel up....

lol, kittywolf i understand how you must feel! while i have an idea for my boy, i'm having a hard time right now coming up with the inspiration to bring the marble patterning to life... so he's been sitting in pieces on my work desk, just staring at me all day long

darkmothflame: Ooh. You could use RIT to tan them, too, and it wouldn't even matter if it came out splotchy. Someone should totally do that.
