Thread: IMPL dolls 64cm Star line and 58cm Model line Discussion thread Part II

Maybe it's just me but the old joint's rounded cancerous swelling bothers me more than the slight distended knee. Considering when I get him he'll mostly be wearing pants anyway, I can't see myself bothered, but I guess if I has a girl who would be wearing skirts it might bug me.

I'm with you, EludyaQuinn. I hate that bulge behind the knee. My Christoper and Ember are on the old body and I have to plan/make/buy clothes that camouflage that bulge. (Eugene is on an old body too, but doesn't matter that much with the boys.O I really like the new body. I love how it sits better. The old body leans/falls back too easily, even when the mobility joint is in the right position. The new body is a dream for sitting.

  3. #263
Yeah, that bothered me when I was handling my sister's dolls, a couple of her boys sat well and a couple didn't. And one of the other gals at the doll meet had a BBB/RS (unsure which) MSD that couldn't sit straight, too. As I said, I expect him to be in pants mostly, so the ability to sit right even with weird-ish knees is a big plus!

thank you anitas for sharing the photos, that is so good of you and i know there are others too who will also be greatful.

ive been wanting to see the joints fully since they were released so i can make up my mind, as you all know i own quite a few impldoll's whole and just bodies as hybrids. im pleased for any one who will be happy with the new joints but i can now state they are 100% not for me.

in a good point yes it makes the back of the leg more tidy but the the new lip may not be strong enough over time to take being clipped in and out of catch as impldolls are prone to breakage in smaller areas, for example fingers or on the side of arm joints are often seen broken when an impldoll is on the secondary market as this is an issue with impldolls which most know of. my concerned would be that lip would become easily broken off over time. also the elonged shape i do not find pleasing to my eye - i wish they had shapped it more like soom have with their joints!!!
still never mind its a personal taste and if you like i say thats great but for me i will not be buying any more bodies from their company as i couldnt live with that knee!!! lol

    Thank you for the photos!

Thank you anitas for the star double joint thread and photos. ive been searching and searching they are like gold dust to find. ive taken a good luck at the photos, um yes and no vote from me i think. i like the way the back of the leg is flatter it does look nicer than before. improvements on sitting is great to as yes the star i have does have sitting difficulty. the peanuts well they are ok but the bit moulded to the top of it could be a pain! in theory it sounds good but when dressed wouldnt that bit to slot in be a pain and catch and maybe yeah id say break of? other wise ok but now ive seen how they have designed the peanut i be giving my floating head an angel of dream body. it was between impldoll star or aod and i was only holding back till i saw the changes but now ive ordered her an aod body and tied up my last loose end- dollstown daisy was my only floating head! thank you anitas for your help as i know i would have never been happy with that peanut and design of lock in place

So how long does ordering a "normal" resin color from Impl usually take? I haven't decided if I'll order him aasap when I have money saved up, or if I'll wait until I have the head... I don't know exactly how long the head will take, I know it's in sculpting now.

When I ordered my "real skin" Impldoll (was a body and head) in July/August-ish of 2011 I believe they shipped it in 6 or 7 weeks. Definitely no longer. That was during an event period where they were offering a free head of any size with purchase, and everybody was still all excited about the release of Iris. . . so obviously yours could be slightly less time, and I wouldn't think it would be longer.

Awesome, that's not that bad if I decide to wait until I've got the head then... I'm not sure I could take much more than 2 months of a head without a body staring at me... heh. Now I just need to try and find some resin-matching pictures. Simply Divine's Luna Sunrise resin that I picked is pretty close to Volks' NS, but the question is, do I order Impl's Pink or Real skin for that? >_< Sigh.

Well, Impl's real skin is a nice typical yellow resin color, I think. I think it would probably be the better match. It's also not too pale or too dark. And I've found that when making hybrid dolls (if all else fails) it is really easy to make a head slightly yellower to match a body rather than having the body be too pink.

The real skin is definitely yellow based and not at all pink based though. . . something to keep in mind.

I used to have a Dollstown IO in Orientalskin on the star body in realskin, they were good together too, but I sold the body as it used to bug me a bit...couldn't sit her up and I hated the knees at the back. I also sold the IO head . I wish I still had my Impdoll Iris though...even though her head hardley moved she was real cute. I think I would probably buy another Iris one day. My daughter has a Dollstown Elysia head in Paleskin on an Impldoll star white skin body and she looks lovely in her Gothic attire.

I just got my Impledoll Heliose. I'll have to take pictures at the end of the month, after she has her face-up and proper clothes. I'm really impressed with the kneed joints on the doll. I have so few double jointed dolls, I have forgotten how nice it is to have.

    Hello everyone! I've never stopped in here before, but I have a question I need the Impl community's help with. ^.^;

After a year with my Christoper's "default" face-up that did not look like the pics I've sent her off to get a face-up more inspired by the look. (read: Damnit, I wanted her to have purple lips!) Anyway, I've realized that her new look calls for a new wig. I've never been overly happy with the way the Angell Studio 1/3 one I got her fits, so I'm planning to order a Monique wig now. My only question is: what size do you recommend? I think her ears got in the way with the couple 8/9s I tried on her, but I don't know if a 7/8 would fit or be too tight.

So long question short: To those who have her, what size wig do you use on your Christoper? Or any suggestions from those who have other Star girls?

Thank you for any help!! I'll have to try and post in here more...

I think 8-9s are too big for Christoper but I've never been able to get 7-8s (Jpop and Monique) to stay on her head -- unless you resort to velcro at the top and back of her head. Mine is wearing a Leeke 7-8 Miranda right now and that seems to fit her well. I've had better fitting luck with Dollzone 8-9 and Leeke 7-8 wigs on her, than Monique and Jpop in any size. Her default wigs tho are non-stretch mohair wigs I've made specifically for her.

Aww, that's what I was afraid of. >.< Thank you so much for the quick response, AnitaS! I guess this means I'll have to go looking at Leeke wigs!

I fixed my earlier comment to reflect it's Dollzone 8-9 wigs, not 7-8, but you might take a look at Dollzone. DZ wigs aren't quite as stiff as Leeke wigs are. And are cheaper.

  16. #276
Ah, thanks for the additional information! ^.^ I do have a Dollzone 8-9 wig, which one of my girls wears constantly. I think it was loose on Leira, my Christopher, but can't remember for sure. The texture is very nice, and I like the quality. I think I've found a couple Leeke styles I like, though, so if they fit your girl well, I might go with one of them for her, since there's a convenient GO open. XD

what companies does Impl Real and Pink skin match? I am going to be ordering a Star body soon and want to get a head from another company that will match in skin tone.

Can I publish more photos here?
I just realized that this doll could be the perfect model for a Queen Beryl cosplay.

Check out this thread on Impldoll resin matching, and note that the resin color changed in May 2010, so you really want the posts after that (or resin after that). I've got an older Elfdoll June on a Impldoll pink body, nice match; a Minifee on an Impldoll white body (OK match but the head has the default faceup, which has a lot of blushing on it - Fairyland white is whiter than Impldoll white). I'm putting a Soom normal (not the bright pink normal but sort of regular normal) on an Impldoll realskin body, but had to blush the head to match. Impldoll's realskin is yellow-tinted. Pink goes with Soom pretty well.
