Thread: Unoa hybrids? Other bodies that work with Unoa face plates (part 2)

  1. #181
yes, no problem! if i end up buying a head, then i can always test it on my Melin's body to see how it works if no one else here has a DZ-Unoa girl. if it works i think it would look fantastic. i'm going to keep an eye on this thread and if i'm lucky or put my sales up i may be able to get my head/girl soon enough.

while i think maybe it was kinda inappropriate of me to rant about finances (because normally i can afford the dolls i want when i want them, so i feel like i shouldn't be pitied at all for having just one financial problem that i should be able to resolve by the new year)-- but it came completely out of the blue and literally made all my budgeting for dolls and "hobby stuff" do a complete 180! i am actually glad i did not find a full U-noa or head-only in the past couple weeks when i was searching for one because it would have complicated this even more.

i know you are super talented at sewing for different sizes so i'm sure DC Bella will work for you ^^ i've wanted to order from you again for ages since i loved the Rosette stuff you made me so maybe in a couple months once i pay this expense off, i can get some good karma and do another order of custom clothing from you.... either for one of my existing dolls or a hypothetical U-noa hybrid ~^^

Lareinerouge - Wow, I really love how the Unoa head looks on the Resinsoul immature body! Do you have any more photos of that you could share?

Leitan aw, you bought stuff from me, I'm not on DoA much so I don't always recognise people's usernames, but I'm so happy that you liked the stuff that I made you, I remember your order now. Of course I'd love to sew for you again inthe future and am always happy to work deals out.... You sound like you have your priorities right with the financial situation, and it's lovely to hear how sensible you are. I know some people who have so many dolls and get upset when they can't get one more right then,a nd I just think it's crazy as these beauties aren't cheap! I certainly feel very blessed to be able to sew for them and earn a little money to save for them that way. They are my little muses and encourage and inspire me to get better at designing and sewing...
.... I think it is the right decision for me to put this hybrid on hold as I have my poor minifee head in need of a body. Hopefully you will have a Unoa head to test out before I get this hybrid, but the DZ bod is so gorgeous I may just have to try it anyway! My faceplate already has a faceup so I couldn't get it blushed to match, but I find light resin usually works well for Unoa. I'm not too picky about the resin match being 100% as long as it looks close enough and works well in pics I'm happy. I really hope you are more comfortable financially by the new year!

    Calio4 I <3 comparison pics too! X

Amy, i'm ___rei (three underscores) on flickr (i made my flickr before i stated using leitan as an online handle), and my etsy username is different as well (for the same reason- it dates back to 2009ish). you made those lovely clothes for my Rosette girl Aeryn. also, that's why i keep calling you Amy - if you want me to call you Teacups or something on here then please tell me ^_^" i don't want to be rude.

i have enough dolls that i feel, i have enough to be happy with and pay attention to, so it's not urgent in any way that i get my Unoa - it's just that she's such a unique type of doll, and i'm always really drawn to these beauties despite owning a collection that i fully appreciate already, if that makes sense.

i'm also not 100% bothered by resin matching either as long as it's not blatantly obvious ^^ scale might be more of an issue but unless there is something wrong with the S hook i think Unoa will work with DZ because my DZ head takes pretty much the same wig size as my MNF (7~8).

i really want to learn to sew as well, it's a talent i really would like to pick up! also i posted that DC Bella on my flickr while thinking of you since you had been talking about her in this thread, although as stated in the comments she belongs to someone else, not me, who goes to my local BJD meet.

even - or especially - because i have a lot of dolls, i feel blessed to own them too. so a Unoa would be nice, but if i can't get my head for a few months, it's nothing i'm going to cry about at all! i already have a lot of dolls to look after and take care of, so a Unoa (or two, since i'm torn between Lusis, Sist, and possibly Mocha-- but Mocha can't be hybridized so easily) would just be icing on the cake.

Oh Rei of course I know you! I have been admiring your amazing DD girls for some time and would love a Vm girl like yours! And I feel so silly that I didn't pick up on you calling me Amy :p I prefer that to Teauos actually, as the premise for that name is now void (I no longer make teddies)...
... I really loved the Bella in your stream, thank you for thinking of me
I agree that Unoas are special, I especially love their noses, and of course they have beautiful eyes. I started with Lusis, but I must say that, given the right face up, the Sist sculpt is truly special. She has such big, beautiful eyes and can look both sweet and sexy. I haven't seen 'Mocha' before, I must have a look!
I hope you can practice sewing someday, I am by no means a pro but I love to do it and I am improving gradually. I feelso blessed tonhave met so many lovely friend's like you who are so kind to me and support my work. I always feelmso happy to thinkni have helped someone to enjoy their dolls even more..
I'm off to bed now but I will look forward t chatting more soon, either on here or on Flickr.... I can't remember if I mentioned before but I decided on a Littlefee in the end and a body for my floating MNF head. I thought I should work through my 'list' before making another Unoa hybrid. I alreadybhave two and my poor MnF head has been floating around for some time :p plus, LTF will be a good size for me to sew for now as I am no longer sewing for Pullips. I am still hoping that someone will try the DZ hybrid in the mean time as I'd love to know if it works but am scared to go first lol!
    Hugs

Slvrdrgn - She is really beautiful! Is she on the white skin Minifee body? How do you find the resin match?

Meanwhile, Queenie (Unoa Lusis) was floating around while her best friend Iria was getting a faceup. So I put her on Iria's white skin Resinsoul body. She looked SO cute on it!

The Resinsoul white is too white, but could be blushed I suppose. Probably better to get a Resinsoul normal and blush the faceplate?

Calio - no, I recently purchased it because the normal RS body is so tricky to make pose able and I'd heard the doublejointed one was better. Once I come back from vacation in a few weeks I'll probably set both my girls up for a photoshoot though

Hello! I am now the proud owner of an Unoa Akubi faceplate, and I was wondering if anyone here could point me to where I can find a headback? I want to put her on a MNF body Any help would be awesome!

I can finally be useful! I just got my Sist changed to her new body, and so I have her and a default Sist here for the moment. Since comparison pics are hard to find, I took a few. Jaena is on a small bust NS body; she was not blushed specifically to match, but her blushing is pinky enough that it worked out great!

She has a Buff headback, and her wigs fit a lot more snug now. Might have to use velcro to help keep them from popping off. I'm pretty sure going to 7-8 would be too baggy. Also I haven't figured out a good way to make the head fit tight to the headback at the top... taping it peeled off a bit of her sealant on her faceup... Still, my weigh-in on this hybrid is that the pros outweigh the cons.

PROS: Posability, posability, posability!!! Also the body is a bit lighter which I prefer.

CONS: Resin-matching can be a pain, the headbacks may require some modding or may be hard to find, and you'll probably need an entirely new wardrobe because Unoa clothes are very baggy on the petite little MNF!

Headbacks aren't hard to find at all and mine didn't need modding. My Sist Carly is on a Minifee A-line too, using a headback by Amaeta. :-)

My Buff one doesn't need modding but I do know the Kaye Wiggs one does. I actually know very little about the Amaeta though.

Oh, that's good to know, thanks! :-)
How's your hybrid's head movement? Carly can look up very well, but she can't look down at all.

Having tried the original Unoa headback and being worried about just that, when I put my Buff one on I was elated to find that the head movement is very good - she can look up and down. Her head's a little snappy because of the odd shape of the MNF neck, so I'm considering sueding it.

Congrats on your girls! Try using KIPs (silicone discs) for the neck. It's a lot less messy. You can also use a silicone wig cap to help with the issue of the faceplate staying on and the wig popping off.

I just discovered that there was a Unoa hybrid thread, I had only been lurking in the Unoa thread before. I have a L-Bi on a girl Minifee A-Line body. Both the head and the body are older so the match seems alright some times. (Sometimes the yellowed body really stands out, it depends on the lighting I seem to have). Here is my girl Caroline.

So I found the Pipos PO13 body.. And I have fell in love with it.
But my only problem is that I cannot see if it would match the u-noa resin colour.

Would anyone possibly know? This body is so lovely and I would love to use it for my girl instead of the DollnDoll body she's currently on.
