Did anyone else see the Tonner Halloween Convention Amelia on eBay last night? The seller wanted $324.99 on a Buy It Now or bid for $289. I like her, and I could have bought her, but I decided that one Amelia is enough for me. I am very happy with mine. The only things that I would have been buying it for are the outfits and the wig. I definitely don't need the doll. The outfits are cute, but they are really only good for Halloween. The Alice outfit could be used elsewhere, but it looks like it may be a little big on Amelia. I'd have to see it on her. In her outfit pak on her website, only the pink outfit seems to fit her well. The other two look large to me, kind of frumpy. I figured someone would come along and buy her this morning, though; and they did. Does anyone know how much the convention attendees had to pay for these sets? I'm guesstimating that this seller probably made at least $100 off this sale. It would be nice if someone would split a set up and sell off everything individually.
imajica63: I like the cute pic of your girls.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYONE!!!![]()
One Amelia is enough for me too, do not want a bunch of clones, but i'd be in trouble if she brings us some friends.
Cyberspacegirl ...has accidentally purchased PKF Vanilla...

I agree, cyberspacegirl. I don't want any clones either. I did that with the vintage Barbies a while back and regretted it, so I ended up selling off the extras. I, too, would love to see a friend for Amelia--a partner in crime!I have one Ellowyne, one Prudence, and one Rufus, plus Ellowyne's cat; and that's the way I like it. I mainly like to buy the clothes for them. I feel the same about Amelia. Of course, my Pukis are Amelia's friends, but it would be nice to see an Amelia-type friend. I hope they come out with more outfits and wigs, too, just like they did for Ellowyne.

I would really love to see an AA friend - like Tiny Betsy's friend Dru.
I'm new here but am totally besotted with Amelia ( my first BJD if you don't count the Lati White I sold because of the too tight stringing). This is my Millie wearing petite Blythe top, a skirt I made from stretchy ribbon trim and Kelly shoes and socks.

I really dislike when people sell off the convention dolls for way more than they paid. I'm not sure exactly, but I was under the impression that the cost of the convention (usually around $300-400) included all the events and dolls. The halloween convention was done a little differently than the main convention in May.
Still, I would imagine the seller made more like $200 on the sale. The reasoning is that they had costs associated with getting to the convention, etc. Personally, I feel that if you went to the convention and got the enjoyment and goodies out of it, I shouldn't have to pay for your travel, etc. So, I show my disapproval of sellers like that by not purchasing their items.
We have gone to events at IDEX for people and the only cost was for the actual event. Any goodies were sent along with the doll to the person who couldn't get there on their own. I never made money on it because I always though of how I would like to be treated.
Anyway, I can pass on the gift set, too. I'm not even going to call WI to see if they have left. We might add another Amelia, but not right now.
Lisa, we were Ellowyne hogs to the max. We started with the first one and collected every doll and outfit until two years ago. BJDs broke me of the addiction, We ran out of room and money for everything Ellowyne and it became way too frustrating to keep up. BJDs are easier to me. You can have one doll, make her into more with a change of wigs, etc. and use your imagination by making things for them.
imajica, Nell looks like she is happy she disrupted everything!
Oliveoil, congrats! I do think you will be happy with her
moonbeam, your Ruby is so precious!
Welcome Dizzy! I'm glad you love Amelia. Her outfit is so cute!

More cute clothes from moonbeam, imajica and Dizzy. What creativity you ladies have! I'm amazed at the tiny board game, imajica!
Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks my Amelia was sent off... I will contact Michelle tomorrow and see if they received her yet ;_;
Dizzy your little girl is so sweet. Love her room and her clothing.
Thanks for the nice compliments. There are some cute Kelly togs out there if you mix them with a few seamstresses bits and bobs. I LOVE the monopoly set especially how the box looks worn like real ones do
Amelia is such a cutie you cant help but smile at her. I hope they bring out some friends for her too, or at least the chance to buy more clothes without having to get the whole set
People were looking at me like I had a transgendered potato in my bathroom
Gracie: I still love my Ellowyne dolls, but I haven't bought anything else for them since I discovered BJDs either. My BJDs are definitely my favorite of all my dolls. I just love their versatility. At least my Ellowyne and Prudence are the first wigged out dolls, though. I love that about them, but I love my BJDs even more because I can also change their eyes. I really love my Amelia, and everyone that sees her says that she's their favorite of my dolls. She is a cutie. That's great that you don't rip people off on the convention dolls. I do the same--try to treat others as I would like to be treated. I had thought that the convention dolls were included, but then one time I heard that the guests had the opportunity to buy them. Maybe I misunderstood, and it was that they could buy additional dolls if they wanted. I am just having such a great time with my little Amelia--sewing for her and fixing/decorating her little house. I hope to post some new pics of mine soon.![]()
Usually what happens is the doll/gift set is included in the cost of the convention. Then, there are extras that are available for attendees to purchase.
When we went to the first Ellowyne event, they had a special basic Ellowyne that every attendee got for the $98 cost of the ice cream social. Then extras were available to purchase for $98 each. There were mobs of folks buying them and they all showed up on ebay for $300 the next day.
Does anyone know of a good source for Kelly patterns?
acexkeikai, I hope you hear something soon!

gracie: That's interesting. Thanks for the info. I saw that another Amelia Halloween set sold for $344 on eBay, and now there's one on a bid for $300. I'm curious what it will go for. As long as people are willing to pay these high prices, these sellers will continue to give it to them, huh?! I would love to go to a doll convention, but they are usually too far away. There was one in San Antonio in September, but it was right around one of my son's birthday, so we couldn't travel then, plus it was quite expensive. Tonner was there. Dallas would be a lot closer for me, but I haven't heard of any doll conventions in the Dallas area. I'm not sure where to find that info. out. I would loooove to go to IDEX, but I doubt I ever will since it's always in January. If it were during the summer, no prob. I could definitely talk my husband into a trip to Florida for a vacation. That would be awesome!!! Maybe someday I will get to go to a convention somewhere!
I bought some cute basic Kelly patterns off eBay, but the seller also has her own website http://www.sassybearsandfabrics.com . I haven't tried to alter them to fit Amelia yet, but I'm sure that could be easily done. Also, I bought a pattern from My Own Little World at http://stores.molwtoo.com/StoreFront.bok. Rachele's patterns fit Pukipuki, Realpuki, Lati White, etc. I made an outfit for Amelia with the pattern, too, though. I haven't tried all of them, but they could be easily adapted. She has some really cute ones. I hope that helps!![]()

Wow, I am slow on the uptake here - I got my little Amelia at the Tonner Convention in March, and I love her to pieces! Reading that she's On Topic here at DOA is just awesome, so happy to hear that! My little Puki Puki, Anja, now has a friend to play with.

Those patterns from My Own Little World are so cute! Many thanks for the link Lisa. She says that some of them include sizes for petite Blythe and I have been finding them a good fit for Amelia.
A question for all you seamstresses - what do you use for fasteners?. I have a bunch of stuff just needing finishing and am finding a thread loop and bead is best for scale but devilishly difficult to do up.
You are very welcome, Dizzy! I appreciate the tip on the petite Blythe clothes as well. As far as fasteners go, I always prefer small snaps. Mattel used to put them on the Liddle Kiddle clothes, and they are way smaller than Amelia or Pukis. I don't care for Velcro because it snags on a lot of materials, ruining them. That's what a lot of manufacturers use nowadays, though, unfortunately. Some of the small Liddle Kiddle clothes had a tiny button with an elastic loop, but, like you say, they are frustrating to do. A hook and eye may work, too, though I haven't tried using them yet. I guess I'm just stuck on snaps. If I figure anything else out, I'll let you know.![]()
Thanks again Lisa! Snaps it will be - I have a pile of the small size but I just hate sewing them on. Its up there with cleaning the oven on my favorite things to do LOL
Moment's Halloween dress stretches like the one from the company does, so it just pulls up and on. My normal method of closure for non-stretch is either lacing (w 1/16" eyelets on that scale) or snaps. I prefer lacing because of the ability to adjust the size to fit different dolls.
If you go with the bead/loop plan, you might want to use a loop of beading elastic (the coated kind, not the clear stuff). That way it's a little easier to get the loop over the bead.

I have lots of lovely measurements on Amelia from this thread and the Tiny size chart so I can almost make an outfit for my Best Dolly Friend and surprise her. The last two I need are:
Inseam - from crotch to ankle
Torso - from collarbone (base of neck) to neckbone in back measured down her torso in front, in between her legs to the back of her neck.
I would be ever so grateful for someone's help. My Amelia has to wait til my birthday in December to arrive!
