May announcements: gallery prefixes, commissionables & shopping services

    Commissionable subforums will be merged

Soon all subforums within Marketplace – Commissionable Services will be merged into a single subforum for all commissionables. Prefixes will be used to organize the different categories of offerings. Members will be allowed one thread for each prefix category: Art/Web, Customization, Clothes, Jewelry, Props/Furniture, Shopping Services, Wigs and Miscellaneous.

Shopping services and Den of Angels

Members offering a service to help Den of Angels members shop overseas will be able to post threads in Commisionable Services using the new Shopping Services prefix.

Members may not offer shopping services that allow people without Marketplace access to shop on Den of Angels. It has come to our attention that some members are advertising DoA shopping services on other forums; if this continues, they will receive a permanent marketplace ban without warning. The rule has been clarified:

To use the Marketplace, all members must meet appropriate Marketplace access requirements. Do not assist non-members, new members, or those with Marketplace bans to access the Marketplace or buy or sell items on their behalf. You may not offer a shopping service that allows people without Marketplace access to buy or sell in the Marketplace.
If you are in a transaction where you suspect the other person of running a shopping service on behalf of others, please contact the moderators.

New prefixes in Gallery – Photostories

This subforum is getting new prefixes to reflect the structure and presentation of stories:
    • Poem/Lyrics: Stories that illustrate a poem, song or even prose text.
    • Narrative: Telling the story through a narrator, usually from a 1st person or 3rd person point of view.
    • Silent: Stories without words, where only pictures tell the tale.
    • Dialogue: Conversation stories with a script of characters talking to each other.
    • Comic/Manga: Stories in the format of comics or manga.
    • PenPals: Multiple members' characters corresponding back and forth.
    • Video: Embedded video stories, regardless of structure.

The Labeling Photostories thread has more information about prefixes. Mods and Virtues continue to move story threads posted in the Gallery over to their proper home. Come find them in Photostories!

Will the new prefixes in the merged commissions subforum mean that the old ones (eg. Accepting Commissions, Waitlist etc.) will no longer be available?

I'm going to put forward a suggestion for an Eyes prefix for the commissionable forum!
I was being paged. Click here to read the Paging thread and the details.
If you're commissioning me, make sure you're reading the updates blog to see your order status.

    Seconding Tayma-Leigh's question.

Also, will the customizers (faceup artists) subforum be merged as well?

. Faceups & Mods . dA . flickr . The dolls' webcomic: "Burn" . AngelToast on facebook

I do my best to answer PMs in 48 hours!

Tayma-Leigh: That's right, the current prefixes will not be available when the subforums are merged. Please update your prefixes to the new ones that have been added to the dropdown options.

kaourika: There only seem to be about six eyemakers, so probably we won't add a prefix for it. Sorry!

elisa_maza: Yes, the customizers subforum will be merged as well.

so face ups will now be labeled what?? art? shopping services?
    I'm so confused o_0
can I suggest we do at least a "customizations" label. if not breaking it down into face ups / mods.

Apologies Knibitz, I understand your confusion. Yes, there is a customization prefix; I've updated the list.

The new prefix set is available now in all commissionables subforums.

I think I may have misread something. If a person has an art thread and a faceup thread and possibly another commission thread, will they all have to be merged into a single thread? Or will they still be able to keep those threads separate even though they will now be in the same subforum? I don't think my little laptop could handle a thread that big *chews on lip*

Members may have one type of thread for each type of shop.

I am happy to help you, but please use the Ask the Mods subforum!

Just to clarify - what sub-heading would be the appropriate one for Eye-makers?
I've left the hobby for an extended leave of absence due to work commitments. I will be online from time to time just not sure when or how often. If you need me in the mean time please message me, I will reply when I am online.

whitewings - Miscellaneous. Currently there are not many eye makers, if this situation changes dramatically in the future we will discuss additional prefixes.

When we mass-moved the threads, we seem to have lost the prefixes. Please take a moment to re-do the prefix on your thread. In addition, you can also select a post icon to indicate if your shop is open (green dot), full (red dot), or on waitlist (little clock) status.

I am happy to help you, but please use the Ask the Mods subforum!

Seems like perhaps this wasn't considered, or maybe it just doesn't matter to the mod team but...

Efficient searching is no longer possible in the commission shops and frankly this makes using this part of the forum a hassle.

Time was that I was able to click onto customisers, search "Canada" and find all the threads that were either a Canadian shop or had some mention of Canada in them (ie: shipping prices).

Now, if I'm searching for customisers in Canada, I have to click on the prefix for the type of service I'm looking for OR I have to search "Canada" and then manually hunt for the ones that are customisers as opposed to seamstresses or doll art or any other service. I cannot search "Canada" and then use prefixes to narrow my search further.

Dislike this change immensely, DoA. Thumbs down.

Tekenduis, you can search prefixes by going to advance search and choosing the subforum and prefix you want to search in. We'll be adding a guide for that to the FAQ soon.

I agree with Tekenduis: the previous maket was much clear and made things much easier and faster... now it's a kind of mess, even if I try to look for a shop by means of the pefix, since if I'm looking for a specific kind of shop, i.e. wigs, I just can look for open wigmakers shops, which excludes the possibility of looking for full/closed shops that could be of my interest in order to make a future commission, and if I look for full/closed shops, I have to go manually selecting the prefix I am interested in...

Sincerely, from my point of view, the previous marketplace division was much better than the new one.

I'm in agreement. I personally never look for certain services being offered..because I have no need or interest in them. It was so much easier when I could just click "customizer" and see all the shops for customizers, open/full/waitlist/whatnot. A lot of times, artists I like may have the prefix "closed" but there will be information as to when they're reopening. Or sometimes I forget the person's name or shop title, and with all the shops in one place, it was easy to find again. Now it's a jumbled, disorganized mess. I don't want to see 16 shops offering services I will never use to find 1 that I MIGHT. Especially since sorting with prefixes is a hassle- and I really think it's silly that I now need to consult an FAQ guide to figure out how to search?

Major thumbs down on this from me.

I'd like to agree with the others on disagreeing with this decision. Searching in the database has become a lot more bothersome and tedious. The previous layout was a lot more helpful and easier to move around. I didn't see a need to change what was already functioning wonderfully.

Thumbs down from me as well.
