Iplehouse Basic YID dolls Discussion Part II

So, if it´s true the rumor, we could assume that they only wanted to close the sales of the sculpts (maybe it was due to the end of the contract with the sculptor).

It's possible, Souldoll does that every time a sculptor leaves the company.

I leave work early for a doc appointment and all heck breaks loose. Not that I spend all day at work reading DoA :P Warning: long ramble ahead.

Like others, I'm staying in cautious optimism mode. I'm also like hobbywhelmed in that I hope this wasn't a ploy and that feedback from the initial announcement only confirmed that the decision to relaunch was just. The timeline seems a bit tight to be leaking a new line if the decision to totally revamp hadn't already been made. But "New Coke" flitted through my mind.

For those outside the US (or too young to remember), when Coca Cola reformulated Coke as New Coke in 1985, '86, there was huge backlash and they soon brought back the original formula under the name Coke Classic. Except it turned out Coke Classic was no longer made with sugar, but high fructose corn syrup. A big difference (sugar makes a soda fizz more for starters, nevermind the flavor).

Coca Cola still maintains ending New Coke was due to public outcry, but there are those of us who will believe til the end of days it was all a big marketing ploy, that Coca Cola diverted backlash over the real new coke by putting out a decoy (that tasted amazingly like Pepsi) which let them launch a new formula and look like a company in tune with its market. One way to generate interest in a sluggish product is to cancel that product then bring out the "new and improved" version, instead of simply announcing the new version. I can't shake the feeling this is also a possiblity.

In any event, if it is true, I look forward to seeing what the new dolls look like, both faces and body. I'm also curious to see if they'll try out any new improvements on this body, like joints {ahem}, before taking it to other lines. But only after official announcement will I let myself squee over the possibility of how they'll be launched, etc. I don't even want to talk about money. Oy. Repairs on various things have really drained my spare cash. And I have two dolls already lined up to buy this year. Maybe the Winter Event 2012 will be a lanch point?

Dang, I'm speculating.

well my husband has talked me into waiting for the possibility that they will be releasing new dolls but I would really like to know when or an estimate as to when they will be released but Iple isn't giving it up. Oh well.

And I wonder if they'll be using the JID/SID style body. That would rockin' if they did I have begun to love it over the old one xD Please dolly gods, don't let them be lying!!

I'd be more sanguine over the JID/SID bodies if I'd see more people putting them through their "posing-paces", rather than just standing arms-at-side, or sitting.

The SID size, as someone said earlier, is very close to the YID size. I wonder if they'd carry two lines almost identical. I'm hoping YIDs stay a more slender line--

Oh gosh. Good point. I hope they do stay in a size that fits SD or SD13 clothes.
And I don't now about the SID or JID but my EID does some stuff sometimes that even I didn't think of

My EID boy doesn't have thigh joints, so he's limited in that respect, but he does sometimes bust a move that surprises me. It's my BH Logan I love the most in terms of joint systems. Anyway, if you're going to take joints t othe next level, launching a bigger doll line is a good place to try. I'm sure they'd be the hidden joints concept, and woudl liekly have the thigh joint option and a chest/waist joint. I'd love the higher hip opening so they can sit. up. straight. And fix the knee piston. Please. And the ankles. Double please.

On one hand, it'd be nice to have a body you could put a SID head on. On the other, you'd think it'd be distinctive enough between JID and SID. It could go back to true 58/60 as opposed to the 60/63 the old YIDs ended with. I'd be highy intrigued if IH tried the 50-52cm idea. I think the 50 is very niche in terms of appeal, though, so I don't know if a "new" YID is the palce they'd experiment.

Only thing I feel for sure is it won't be skinny. IH has made a name for itself with it's full-figured gals -- I don't mean in the euphamistic sense -- and muscle-bound guys.

At to the story at hand....a nice new YID body with better joints for posing and maybe revamped heads would improve sales for the YID line too. Along with new clothes and shoes.

Well, that coke wasn't added past the 19-teens or so, though a non-narcotic coca leaf extract is still used.

Drat that leak! Now I'm sitting here wondering when/if there will be an official IH announcement. This is going to get much worse than the Ludwig wait. I don't have a doll savings (can barely have a human savings), but I may have to start ferreting a few dollars away per month, at least soften the blow. And it's not like Iple doesn't taunt us with other stuff in the meantime.

Nothing like somebody realizing they said something from an internal company memo/meeting that wasn't ready for public consumption yet.

Don't even get me started on how nasty New Coke was. I'm happy it got ditched a month after release.
But in other stuff doll-related, I WOULD LOVE it if IH went the same route as Dragondoll did with the Uncle body and gave the boys some bits. I think that would be a game changer in the doll world for the standard SD size at least and I second the idea of a new, better YID body with better joints, revamped heads (but don't change the Mars too much---he's too beautiful!!!) and more clothes/shoes. That would be lovely.

Gothic-Diurnal-Hime: LOL about the bits. I'm still not sure how I feel about those on the big dolls. No matter what, it's safe to say the old YID sculpts are gone, even an an updated way. From what I've seen with other companies, I think they contract the sculptors, so I don't know if the company can too closely copy a sculpt once the sculptor's gone. Given Iple's track record with sculpts looking related, I wouldn't be surprised to see a sculpt taken from Tedros, or Luo and Chase's love child at 18. Maybe if there were enough demand you'd get a "middle me" version of Asa or Carina.

They're definitely adding a new dimention to their clothing lines and face up options with the other dolls, so I would imagine that would continue/expand in a new YID line.

jennspeaks- So they alluded your question huh? Hmm.....they may not want to leak out too much info on the new YID body/Dolls just yet. I guess once they have the body all done and whatever new heads they may use or old ones, they will make a huge announcement. I usually get emails from them on new doll releases.

LOL. Ironically I think the notice I see is the second one I get. The first goes to my account email, but when I answered some questions from my regular email, that got added to the mailing list. Both are usually seen after I've already seen it on DoA.

Yeah I love that I get those e-mails a week after release practically. XD It always makes me think, "Gee I just ordered that doll, Iplehouse. Thanks for letting me know it's out now!" Not that I've ordered anything they've announced

Not for lack of temptation. I've been holding strong for something else though, which is truly about to test what little patience I have. But there are dolls on the wishlist. Hopefully I'm adding one of those new YIDs at some point.

New to this looking for a bit of advice though not sure if i want to be here or over at the JID board...

Anyway my question is this I am getting a YID Iris head I was wondering since I kind of fail at such things if anyone knew what JID or similarly sized head mold would make a good younger version.

To better explain I am basically hoping to make a younger version of the same character like the difference between 12 and 14-16. So i'd like a 1/4 doll that matches my 1/3 YID
