Everyone's guys are amazing! I'm disappointed that i missed Cuba's preorder . Does soom have many dolls in the 52cm category? Does anyone know if any new releases for 52cm are scheduled? Are Soom dolls only sold on the Soom site? Sorry for the newbie questions but I just found out that Soom had dolls that could fit with my MSDs. Thanks!

Soom is only sold through their own website, and they have not had an Idealian of either size out for quite a few months. Also check the Gem portion of their site, where a couple of monthly dolls were ID-51. (I bought a human Hornblend.) Not that they've released a Gem-ID-51 recently, either.

Souldoll also has a 52cm line, the Vito size.

If your 43cm (+/-) doll has a small head, it may look good with the ID-51. Mostly, however, the ID-51s look like tiny little pinheads, & the 43cm crew look like melon heads.

I'm thinking this thread is in dire need of some Hornblend spam. My poor boy doesn't have very good eyes yet, and I haven't even started on his tattoos or his clothes, but at least he's presentable! (When you look this good, no clothes really works in your favor! )

Ann in Ct: Congrats on your Hornblend! I didn't even know he was listed in human form! How tall is he? He must be stunning. Do you have pictures of him? Thank you for your suggestions and the info you provided. I'm hoping Soom will have a new 52cm doll release soon (and I can find him!) since its been awhile like you said. I'm hoping if I find one he won't be too much of a pin head! lol! Maybe Soom will take some suggestions and make their heads a little larger!

The heads are small compared to most BJD's, but they are very realistic when you get a wig on them.

Dollique, Hornblend as a human is 51cm, with the (gorgeous) regular ID-51 body.

He was a bit taller as a centaur, but I don't know those measurements.

And, yes, total pin head, at least compared to the usual 6/7 or 7/8 c.43cm doll head.

Two of my dolls have informed me they're a couple--and she has this enormous head & usually wears a big fluffy pink wig, while he is ID-51, and still bald, as his default wig didn't suit me, so I didn't buy it. They're SO disproportionate.
They don't care.
I plan to invest in a Stella Maris dreads wig for him, which ought to broaden out his head enough.

Finally got my hands on my Cuba yesterday. Paid off my layaway in March and Soom took this long to ship him.

Very pleased with him, faceup and wig. His little half-boots are nice, too. However, I bought both the outfits available with him and have mixed feelings about them. Would it have killed Soom to use real denim and give the pants a zipper fly so they don't gape? I think a second snap will be in order to fix that. The material of the shirt is really thin, too. And yet these guys are hard to fit so I can't say I regret having the stuff. It's frustrating.

On a good note, I had a Volks SD10-sized suit I tried on him. The pants were too big. The shirt was a really nice fit, and the blazer is a little big but looks pretty swank paired with the shirt and the Soom 'jeans.'

Finally, finding eyes a challenge. I had a pair of 14mm urethanes held in reserve, but they wont even fit in his eyewells. Urethanes are my preference, but for the time being I am eyeing a pair of 11mm Eyeco silicone.

Yeah I know what you mean about his clothes. I ordered 2 sets and were...not as thrilled as I was with their limited outfits (which are spectacular in person IMO).

I have 10mm masterpiece(?) silicone in mine. I also prefer urethane so I'm looking into 10mm ED, but I may try eyeco. I'm not sure how glass would work fir this sculpt since most glass eyes I've dealt with in this size have much higher domes.

Yeah, teeny eyes. I think mine's wearing 10mm glass.
Right there with you on the clothing. Those little "rivets" pop right off too, so be prepared.
I figured if nothing else, at least the Soom outfits give me a better starting point for making patterns.
Some day I'll get off my duff and get back to working on that.

Side note: I somehow ended up with two pair of those "jeans", and I swear they're different sizes. One fits nicely, the other Does Not.

I love the wig on Hornblend, Annarchy.
I avoided the pinheaded problem by getting a DIM MNM MSD head for my Zinc body. I think the proportions are a little more like my other dolls. He looks cute with my JID girl, though.

@Guls207 Eyeco and Masterpiece have been pretty close in quality/fit in my experience. Eyeco is a little cheaper, and Safrin has a pair that would work for my guy. If I could find the right pair of Masterpiece, I'd be willing to try those too. Dollshe goes down to 12mm in urethanes and I'm tempted to try a pair because they run small. But... silicone may be our best bet, the length of the eye is what concerns me, and I'm afraid the curvature of hard eyes will make them gap.

@Aernath This little guy is your fault. I knew after I played with your London that I was going to need one this size. I so so wish Freedom Teller would tailor for them, that would be awesome.


Btw, your Hornblend is beautiful, Annarchy!! Soom did that boy no justice in their photos.
