Thread: Dollstown 18 year boys and girls

  1. #161
Just finished the dress for my 18yr girl body and want to share the photos here. I really adore the body, slender, natural, even a little boyish that makes me love it more. The head sculpture is Soom Nephelin in CW, which is nearly a perfect match for the body in paleskin, at least good enough to my liking. For more pictures you can check my Gallery's thread here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/sh...Body-Hybrid%29

If a doll smiles, her dress should also smile.

I did it! I just ordered the 18 year old body and Hwan head!!!! I've felt like this is one of my unattainable dolls so it feels surreal to have finally ordered one

I'm hoping he and my ID will be able to share some clothing but since I draft patterns and sew all my own clothing I can always make him his own patterns too

    So FREAKIN excited!

~~That is beautiful Magnolia! I can't stop staring at the doll AND the dress. Very nice work!

    you must post pics~!!! *O*
ive been looking at the 18 year old dollstown boy and i want to buy one too~!
but im a little worried that he might be a bit too muscular for my taste.
Compared to other sculpts he looks more natural than other muscular guys out there but im still
a bit iffy about wether to buy him or not, its driving me crazy~ XD

Thank you Magnolia it is great to hear your feelings about the female body, it is the 'boyishness' that I am so drawn to in it......I am just happy to see a female body that doesn't have a huge bust!
And thank you for the resin match information, you have answered the question I asked in your Gallery thread

    Now the extra questions start!
You obviously can make perfect clothes for your dolls; the cut of that dress is amazing!
Did you have to draft a basic pattern from scratch or were you able to adapt an existing pattern you already had?
And if you did the later what size doll did you use as a starting point please?

Also I notice your girl is barefoot at the moment.....is she hard to find shoes for?
Thank you for any help you can give

And well done SoraSoul......the long happy wait begins for you. I take it you ordered the male DT18 doll?

And GuroDoLL I am waiting before I order this size too........I need to know I can clothe the doll and find shoes that can fit, before I buy it
    Have fun!

Jane, yes I ordered the DT18 boy with the Hwan head in Freshskin I also have an Idealian and other than the DT18 being taller the measurements are bigger for the Idealian on everything else. I'm sure that the boots and shoes I have will fit, now it's just a matter of if they look too big for him. I should also be able to adapt my pants pattern for him by cutting it a bit longer and they can share shirts (I hope) they will just be a bit looser on the DT boy.

Jane, here come my answers to your questions.
I did adapt existing patterns for human to make doll clothes. Those patterns can give you some basic ideas about the constructions. Then I draft my own patterns for my dolls based on those information.
As for the shoes, I guess it won't be easy. The body has huge feet, about 9cm long and near 3.5cm wide, definitely bigger than Dollmore model girls' feet. The only shoes I can put them into is this one for my model girl Lisa: http://dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=1797
I think it's because the shoes' back area is open, which can let the foot extrude a little bit. But I think some boys' shoes can fit if you can find the proper styles, sigh.
If a doll smiles, her dress should also smile.

Yesterday my two 18years giants arrived. I got a 18girl body for my Christy Stone Estella head and a 18boy complete Hwan. The bodies are extremely well designed. There are only 2 things that I donīt like. The knee parts on both bodies look well, but they tend to buckle and make standing unsteady. Mabe I have to string the dolls tighter, I will see.
2nd: The Hwan head is designed for use on the 18year body, but it is not very large. The connection between head and body looks weird for my taste. The head somehow sits "on the top". (hope that makes sense) And the molded neck muscles on the sides end underneath without connection. Hope my pics can explain that.

And a question: Has anybody tried EID clothes on the 18year DTs in the meantime and could share pics, please?
EDIT: Comparing measurements I think SID clothes would work better? Depends on the pants length.

I see what you mean, Farin. Does the neck on your 18 year old girl body have the same issue? The only thing that I could suggest would be to sand the top of the neck muscles so that they blend.

Farin I would actually send these photos to DT as I can see what you mean.....to be honest it looks as if they have sent the wrong head size.....doesn't it?!
You shouldn't have to be sanding to get the head and body to work.....they should be designed to fit perfectly....hmmmmm

And magnolia thank you for all the information you gave in answer to my questions, I appreciate it
    Have fun!

Jane is right, Farin, forget that I said anything. And looking at it again the head does look too small. I also think that you should send DT these pics and get them to fix this.

That's pretty strange that the Hwan head is so small. Certainly the Mui head sits lower on the neck. There's a small gap between the neck tendons and the rim of the head, but not like this.

I donīt have my Rian head yet, but she seems to be small, too. The "old" heads like my Estella fit better on the 18girl body although the neck is a bit too long for my taste. (Sorry, cannot take pics till Monday) But the girlīs neck does not have those thick sides (donīt know the English word for it)

Didnīt see those pics before. The neck problem is to be seen here on Anjonghakīs pics:

There's also this pic, where you can see the gaping on the neck. It looks like they tried this for added mobility, but it looks pretty unattractive without a wig

You might be the first person to get a Hwan home, so no one else noticed it yet?

Here is Rian head on the neck:

candygears, I didnīt notice those wigless pics before ordering. And on the wig pics there is always some hair covering the neck.

But that does not mean that i donīt like the body, it is one of the best I ever saw.

That is a bit of a difference! I had looked through all the pictures on the dollstown site and saw that there was a difference so I was prepared when I ordered and hopefully it is something that I can live with

So good to hear that everyone who has one like the body so far!!! I'm not doing well with the wait but it does look like I may be able to pay him off in July rather than August so I'm really excited

Wow, she looks amazing suok2011! Did you make her dress, or did you manage to find one that fits her?
I'm getting ready for my second layaway payment on my 18 girl body, but I wish it was here now!

  19. #179
Thank you candygears. The dress is from Dollheart for SD17 ( if i am not mistaking). Fits her very well. The boots also from Dollheart for boy SD17.

I have been so excited waiting to see this girl as she is the one I hope to have one day.
    Wonderful!

How are you finding the size and weight of this girl feels in hand? And is she easy to play with?
And how have you found the connection between head and neck?
    Questions questions......

I have just been over to Flickr looking at your other photos too.......so good to know that SD17/17clothes fit this body
    Have fun!
