Thread: Registration - Invite new members!

    Registration - Invite new members!

    DoA's registration is currently invitation-only.

To invite a friend, choose the Invite Friends link on the toolbar above. On the next screen, enter your friend's email address, your name (if you feel like it), and click submit.

Invitees will still be screened by the moderators before their accounts are approved; this is done to avoid allowing banned users (particularly those with Marketplace issues) to re-join the forum.

You may send up to 7 invitations per week.

The ability to invite friends become available after 25 days of membership and 40 posts. Users who are on any sort of restriction may not send invitations.

If an individual would like to join but does not know any community members, they may email membership@denofangels.com to request an invitation.

Please note that the invitation log is available to the moderators, so we will know who has invited whom. If you are caught attempting to help a banned member re-register, you will also be banned.
For a full list of forum staff, click here.
This account does not accept PMs. Please ask the moderators if you need help.

What is the approximate response time for this request to be granted? I am part of another community where a few people have been asking about this, including one who has been waiting about 3 days to hear back from the forum staff. I understand that the mods are busy and it may take time to get an invite sent out--just wondering what the time frame is so that people know when to continue waiting patiently and when to consider sending a follow-up email.

We've really been hit by requests - around 400 so far. I can't give a real estimate of how long it will be.

I am happy to help you, but please use the Ask the Mods subforum!

If all your friends who are interested in dolls are already on the site, is it ok to offer to send invites to other people's friends if they have a lot but have already used up their 7 invite allowance? Although, I realise this will make more work for you guys, so perhaps that's just a bad idea to begin with

We'd really rather that each person use their own invites. As the seven invites are per week, that seems to us ample allowance for each member.

I just invited my sister to join the forum, and she accepted and registered. In the email she received after registering, it stated, "While you're waiting, please make sure that you have completed the Required Questions. You may check this by going to the "User CP" link on the left side of the forum, then choosing "Edit Options" from the menu on the left."

However, there is no specific Edit Options tab? I did end up finding the required questions under "General Settings." Perhaps the email could be edited to say "You may check this by going to the User CP link on the left side of the forum, then choosing 'General Settings' (instead of Edit Options) from the menu on the left"?

I really appreciate the work that all of you put into this forum. The invite system is a nice and neat idea, considering how quickly the hobby is growing and what I'm sure is an intense workload in looking over and approving new members! Thanks for your time!

If we invite a person, and that person joins and down the road breaks a forum rule, we are not accountable for this person, right?

No, the new member is fully responsible for his or her own behavior on the forum.

I'm trying to help DoA member LadyGinSling who has lost her password and cannot log in. I've pm'd mods about it a few times, but have had no replies, probably due to the vast number of membership requests you are having to deal with.
Is there anyone here who can help her please? Thank you!

I've sent her a password reminder to the email address she had on file with her account. Thanks!

Please read the opening post. As you have not met the requirements, you cannot invite friends yet. Thanks!

Is this a permanent action? Will DOA never be click-n-register again?

We haven't made a decision about when this might change. We don't intend it to be forever, but we have no date for returning to open registration.
