On the topic of eyes.....I have 10mm eyeco in my BIDS. The eyecos fit well in these dolls without too much white showing and in the iplehouse socket with this size I am happy with the positioning. I haven't had a lint problem but I do find some of the puddy is chalky and will create a film on the eye so I have to clean them off after putting them in. But for the larger sized eyes in other dolls I have really struggled. To get the size pupil or Iris I want...I find I often don't have enough socket for them to fit well....

So, I seem to remember some discussion about whether or not the JID and the KID heads would be interchangeable. I love my JID I to bits and bobs, but I'm feeling like she might just be too big, as she's generally neglected in favor of my smaller kids. I wonder if she'd work on a KID body?

for some reason iplehouse lists their jid heads in inches and the kid heads in cm but when i compare asa's and joys or lonnies head size there is only about 1cm/1/2" difference in the circumference. that would be within the normal range of variance for real people if you multiply it out. so chances are it would work, (especially since iplehouse tends to have a lot smaller heads proportionally than some companies do) i think it would mostly depend on hair and makeup being young enough to suit the body.

The JIDs I have have head circumference of 7.2"
Except Isar who has 6.7" circ (same as BIDs)
BIDs have 6.7" circumference
KIDs have 17.5 cm - which translates into 6.9" circumference

yeah, those were the numbers i was using - well except for isar since i didn't know she was different. if yo do notice that the head is slightly bigger it would just have the effect of making the doll look younger since younger children tend to have bigger heads proportionally. it would give a wider range of kids wouldn't it?

The size difference in the heads isn't getting me 'cause both aunt bear and MB Lilac pointed out the differences in live children etc. But I'm wondering how the neck circumferences will/would work out.

I think I remember seeing that the JID necks are roughly 1/2cm larger around than the KIDs, so wouldn't that mean a JID head would sit further down on a KID body? I've done head swaps on vinyl dolls where the necks weren't the same and depending on how much of a difference there is; I'd end up not noticing the swap unless I was looking at the doll with the feet pointed towards me. And that because there was a slight gap showing. Or, the difference would be enough that the doll looked like it had a really, really short neck because of the head sitting so far down.

And would the difference cause any problems with the elastic tension? Just thinking out loud here.

RE: KID-BID clothing, thanks for the info guys! I think the KID arms are 12cms and the BIDs are 8, I think, so a fair differance in just the arms and legs, body and head are very close in size. I'm sure there was only 0.7 of a cm between their chests. Let me check my word document....

Ok 8 millimeters which isn't much at all, I love so much that their feet are the same size, I know people complain it's not realistic but neither is having a human sized shoe box filled with all types of sized shoes.

I say contact them Serenade! Best to get the thing you want most. Do you have any other Iple NS dolls? It is awfully pale and PG seems such a cosy tone.

My BIDs can share stuff with my Narsha size girls....shirts, dresses. Bloomers. So they should be able to share a bit with the KIDs.

Green tends to look GORGEOUS with tan skin. Like a rich forest-y green. Violet also looks striking and good depending on how realistic you're thinking. Green-toned hazel is good and realistic if you're going that route.

Speaking of eyes, I'm sort of torn on what eyes I want to get for Lily Ember (my Lonnie girl). I could get Frisco like her mother's eyes are. . . . but I think I want to do something more striking. I was thinking Caribbean by Masterpiece, but I'm not sure if the 11mm will look right or not. I'm THINKING it will, as it seems to work well in JID heads, but I just don't want the irises to be HUGENORMOUS or something.

Thoughts, anyone?

I think anything that will fit a JID head ought to be fine, after all, they call for the same size eyes as is, and the heads are only very slightly smaller (.3 inches!) so it should all be fine.

I keep compulsively checking the order status as well. Except that I think I've convinced myself that if I check often enough that it will change! LOL.

Also, a pale blue could look amazing in a tan doll, but it again depends on what level of realism you're going with and whether the character is tanned because they fried themselves in the sun, or for ethnic reasons

So, does anyone know how iplehouse usually ships out their orders for new release/limited dolls? I've only ordered from then once before and it was a Jerome that had already been out for a year I think and he just appeared less than a week since I ordered him. So I was feeling rather spoiled, lol.

Are they going to wait until they fill ALL of the orders that were made? Or shipped out first come first serve? Do people who ordered face-up have to wait longer? I am full of curiousity today.

Thank you so much, TatterPunk and AceHArtHunter! I don't plan to go too realistic for Joy's eyes. None of my dolls have realistic eyes, they all wear glittery Candy Kittens. They eyes need to have a pupil though, that's the minimum of realism I need^^ And he was not fried in the solarium, he is just Asian I will search for some nice green eyes now.

No problem, Lil Spark. I totally knew a guy in high school who had beautiful tan American Indian skin and green eyes. . . had the biggest crush on him, lol. I also knew a boy with actual yellow eyes. . . it was weird, but that's beside the point.

AceHartHunter - It seems that they ship around 15-30 days after the order period ends for the limited. My Erica shipped about 23ish days after the order period ended, but she was blank with no clothes. Sooo I guess it just depends on what you got, too and when you ordered.

Thanks for the advice on the eyes. I went ahead and ordered the Caribbean ones by Masterpiece this morning in 11mm. I'm gonna get her wig ordered today too, I think. Then I'll have everything all ordered for her. Clothes, shoes, wig, undies, eyes. . . which means I'll need to figure out what I want to save up for next, lol.

Tatterpunk that Caribbean is a gorgeous color! Wow!

I always do lighter eyes on darker skin for a beautiful contrast. I'd go with lighter green, blue or grey eyes. My favorite combination is tan skin and blue eyes. After that I'd go something like smokey grey. Brown and blue look really great together though. With blue eyes you can go super pale or somewhere in the middle. Depends on how dark they are, it still might look good. But I'm still all for pale eyes with dark skin. I also think gold looks reaaaaally good with tan skin, especially if the hair is black and cherry red or straight red.

I want a tan Lonnie girl or boy at some point in the future. He's going to have either blue eyes or amethyst (probably amethyst because my Frost will have blue). I'm all for jewel-toned colors with tan skin as well. Seriously would get Lonnie in every color if I could. LOL! I went and ordered my Lonnie boy Frost Gumdrops in "chills" because my last Frost doll (Luts cherry) had that color. He used to have one amethyst and one blue eye, but I changed it to strange pale icy blue.

And here I was just thinking of getting my little normal skin boy some nice eyeco grey "Smoke" eyes to wear. But now, hearing all these awesome colours... I'm thinking maybe some pink albino glass eyes could look pretty cute... and it would certainly suit his character.

Heh, anyone else starting to wonder if the KIDs are ever going to be released in Basic? Or at the very least if the Lonnie and Joy heads will be?

if your guy is not pure asian you can go for just about any combo. i have nieces that are part japanese, part norwegian and not sure what else (step nieces ) and they have asian features with blonde hair, blue or hazel eyes respectively and tan like crazy

I decided that my boy will get some blue eyes, not sure which shade exactly but it will be some light colour, I don't think dark eyes would look too good on a tan doll.

Okay so I've got to work on making a space for the little guy. He already has a blanket that I made ages ago, and a few clothes. No shoes yet though, it really throws me that his feet are the same size as the BID. I have these little saddle shoes that fit my JID very snugly so I think I might give those a try on Elin and see if they could work. I find it funny that Narsha's feet are bigger than the JIDs.

Stupid Douglas!!! I am a big fan of Phantom of the Opera so I LOVE Stupid Douglas! I don't collect big dolls, though, so I was really hoping it was more news on the KIDs..

I got that notice too, and when I saw it was for new Limited edition, I immediately hoped it was for the next two KIDs, but alas, no. Just Douglas.
