I recently bought a DM Lisa Rubik - she's so beautiful! So here I came to check up on Dollmore... Reading this thread after I got my Lisa inspired me to closely check out their other dolls - & now I'm going to get a Glamour Model Maxi Millen to cosplay Gintoki Sakata - really!! Sooooo happy!

AnitaS - did you ever get your Bella Auden in that super gem dress? If you did could you post a pic? I'm liking several outfits/pieces of clothing for super gem but just want to see what it really looks like on a model doll before I take this plunge (which I seem to be at the edge of the cliff and just need to jump!)

Mu Shu, it's on my to-do list but I will get it done tomorrow and get some pics up. Good thing you asked because I wouldn't have remembered to post photos.

Thank you so much AnitaS! Can't wait to see how she looks.

Soom Super Gem outfits on Dollmore MOdel body

OK, here you go. I only used the more form-fitting parts of the outfits; there are skirts for the Amber and Vesuvia outfits but they have elastic waists. In general, the Dollmore body is just a tad smaller than the Super Gem - skirts etc. fall sexily (I think) on the hips. The Dollmore breast sits a tad higher than the Super Gem breast and so tops have to be pulled up a bit (click on this link to see a photo that shows exactly what I mean). Warning: To my great disappointment, since I bought those gorgeous Coquina sandal heels, Super Gem heeled shoes do NOT fit on Dollmore Model heeled feet. The DM feet are too big.

I love all of them AnitaS!!!! Thank you for posting. Good to know about the super gem shoes too because I've been looking at them, now I'll stop.

Out of curiosity - does anyone know if the Souldoll Zenith size clothes will fit the model dolls? It seems like the measurements would.

The very first dolls my wife and I bought were Dollmore Model dolls--a Huey Louis and a Leah Cox. And while we still absolutely love them, especially their sculpts, her boy is a complete pain when it comes to posing.

I've restrung him more tightly, and wired him, which has helped definitely, but he still hates to pose properly. I don't know if his joints are too smooth or what the deal might be. She doesn't really want to suede/hot-glue suede him, but he just refuses to cooperate most of the time. Does anyone here have advice on helping get these beauties to pose? I swear his sister doesn't have nearly so much of an issue, although she has her moods.

My first BJD was a Dollmore Huey Lewis. I just thought his face was the most beautiful I'd ever seen, and his hands are so delicate. And I love that Dollmore has such a huge selection of clothes and accessories for their dolls, but after getting other BJDs I've realized what a problem child my DM doll is.

I absolutely cannot pose the poor thing. He's like a ragdoll. He's been restrung half a dozen times, and he's been wired. And he still just wants to collapse in on himself. It's like he's...sickly. Does anyone else have this issue? I can't do a thing with him. It's like my two options are too tight or too loose; there's no happy median.

I've considered putting his head on another body. Is that feasible? I've never done anything like that before. I'm more concerned about the pieces fitting than getting an exact skin tone resin match. I hate to do it when his body is so beautiful, but he's like a sick little bedridden thing because of his limbs. It just seems like such a waste. I'd like to play with him a bit more but as it stands I feel lucky to get him to stand up straight so I stick him on a stand and try not to disturb him so he won't crumple. @_@

Even if he's got issues like this, he's still my very favorite doll. I recently bought him several more outfits, including a sort of knitted black sweater that Dollmore actually had listed for their glamour dolls. He looks so beautiful in that. As soon as I put it on him I said, 'New favorite outfit!!!!'

Edit: Oh, my wife is here. LOL When I started typing, you hadn't posted. XD Thank you for trying to help me, sweetie~

You're talking about the 'zombie' pose that Model boys are so well known for? His chest curls in and his arms curl up, even when you try to straighten him? That particular trait drove me insane when I first brought home my Uri Rich... >.<

I found that tightening his stringing actually made that crumbling-in-on-himself action worse. Hot glue sueding helped, but in the end is was simply fiddling with him a lot and learning about his centre of balance that helped me with posing him the most. Really though, I don't believe that these bodies were designed for 'standing straight'. The way their torsos are cut doesn't allow for it. It seems to me that they were always meant to have that hip-swayed slink to them... you just need to learn how to work around it.

I'm not sure about sticking his head on another body... Your best bet would be to check/ask in the picture request forum for some Dollmore heads on other bodies and see what your options are. Still, it would be a shame to lose those glorious legs of his!

Sanity...? What is this word of which you speak?

Yessss... He's just like that. I wish he wouldn't do that. He's so beautiful but I've come to see him as something of an invalid. I love his body and I don't want to replace it, but he's just so... sickly.

Ugh, it's disappointing to hear that they're known for that posing. Hmm.... Well, we might need to go get some more elastic so I can try and play with him some more.

Hi, baby! Yes, I was posting, too. ^.^ I want to try and get him fixed, since I really do like his body!

I wondered, would it help if I lightly sanded the insides of his joints to try and give more traction, or would that be a bad idea? It's about the only other thing I can think of short of actual sueding.

I tried restringing him with the extra elastic that came with my EID, but honestly, their elastic is so thin I don't know why they string those huge dolls with it! I've sort of become an expert at restringing Dollmore dolls thanks to Ash, so at least I'm not worried about toying with him more. I just want him to cooperate! And maybe playing with him and doing some more photo shoots will help us get more familiar with what he can and can't do.

Try hotglue sueding their chest and hip joints, and loosening their arms if you can, but keep the leg strings tighter. kirika is right...the model body is designed the same way as the Adam body, neither stand straight well...It's easier to let them contort a little, angle their shoulders, bend a knee and tilt the hips, if they're balanced like a person (most people don't stand 100% straight all the time, we usually keep our weight on one leg), they should stand better. They are very (I don't like to say difficult but there you are) different from most dolls...and they do have a learning curve but it's really worth it when you do get the hang of them. They look amazing in well fitting clothes and can pose so naturally...

Sometimes. I have a Zenith, Super Gem and Model Doll bodies, and sometimes clothes I make for Model Doll or Super Gem can fit Zenith. In terms of proportion, Model dolls have slightly smaller busts than Super Gem, but larger than Zenith. They all have the same waist size, and model dolls are larger in the hips than super gem and zenith. Zeniths have the smallest hips of the lot.

Shoe wise, Model Doll can fit EID girl shoes, Souldoll Zenith girl and Luts SDF boy shoes (which there is a fair amount of heeled boots in that size!).

You tightened the leg strings and it helped, VampireAngel13? When I did that, it made his chest curl more, dammit. You're right about the one-legged balance and hip-tilting though! It took me forever to get the hang of that... Finicky pretty boys, is what they are!

Heiroglyphica and Fin Raziel, if you'll be kind enough to ignore the crap-tasticness of this picture (it should never have seen the light of day!), it gives a decent idea of what VampireAngel13 is talking about:

Hips tilted out and shoulders angled. In this picture, he's resting on his left leg, with the right leg out for balance. It's also best to have his hands doing something instead of just hanging at his side. Have him gesturing, or looping fingers through a belt hole or something - anything that makes use of that arm-bending tendency!

By the way - this picture was taken after his sueding got ripped out (about a year after I got him). He managed the pose with nothing more than attention to his balance.

Sanity...? What is this word of which you speak?

It must be for all DM dolls, because the DM Kids aren't immune to it, either...

Thanks so very, very much for this discussion. It's good to know that a)I am not a dork and b)the Dollmore people aren't sniggering over how much I paid for a crap doll. Dark Force Dragon Haneol is totally gorgeous, even though he poses like a stick of cooked spaghetti.

Also thanks for the discussion, and envy-making pictures, of what these resin people can wear. One more question though.
Is there a good time to check out the Soom website? It seems that when I go there, the dreaded "sold out" stamp is attached to practically everything.

Bahaha! Cooked spaghetti! What a perfect description! I'm soo gonna use that next time I'm trying to describe the Model boys' posing ability... or lack thereof! *snickers*
...And I'm jealous of your Haneol - that tat is gorgeous!

They tend to release new clothes around the same time when they release new dolls. So keep an eye on the News section here, and if there's a new Soom release, there may be new clothes out too.
