Out of curiosity, will future Rei-Tenshi count? Since they only have rotation at the thighs, neck, and shoulders.
DoA's Moderating Team
Hello DoA,
We have updated DoA's criteria for dolls that we consider on-topic. Please see the following link for the full criteria:
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=42407
Summary of the key changes:
- Going forward, all dolls on DoA must be cast in resin. Several sculpts and lines have been grandfathered into the old criteria, but in the future will not be allowing dolls made of vinyl, PVC, hard-plastic, etc.
- Going forward, dolls on DoA will need to have a certain degree of articulation. In general, you will not find that this impacts many sculpts; several sculpts have been grandfathered into the criteria, but in the future all dolls will need to have joints at the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hips, knees, and ankles.
- We have added a bit more clarification to the "aesthetic" portion of the criteria.
If you have any questions, please post them in this thread. (Though posts intended to debate the inclusion of specific dolls will be removed.)
Thank you!![]()

This is what I was wondering, too. Some of them have a bit more than that - mine has jointed ankles - but others have even less, like JennyNemesis' Jimmy. And Volks has indicated that they'll be coming out with even smaller sculpts, haven't they? These will probably have even less articulation, or the same amount.
Yes, past, present and future -Tenshi will be on-topic.![]()

How do you decide these changes? Are they based on personal opinions, the amount of users with certain types, the changing types of abjs available...? Would you ever consider putting up polls to let users decide if they wanted certain arguable aspects in or out?
As mods, I know you're allowed to pick and choose, I'm just curious.
Ka_la_la_lira, we base our decisions on many things, including what the hobby started out as and taking into consideration new developments. At this point, we will not be putting dolls up for member vote to decide on or off-topicness.
Fenicia, I'm not quite sure what you mean...the picture of your doll shows quite clearly that she has a hip joint, otherwise she could not be sitting.![]()

Nope, she doesn't has a hipjoint, she also sits like Barbie does, using her legjoints. Her torso is just one sollid piece of resin.
A side-view-pic of her sitting.

Fénicia, the joint that holds the legs onto the torso is the "hip" joint.
I think you mean she has no "torso" joint, the SD10 bodies don't, which is probably why the mods left it out. Same as the b-line minifee to name just one more.

Yes, that's all correct - this doll does have joints that allow her to sit - many bjd sculpts are solid torso-ed, some have a single joint in the torso and some have double-joints in the torso!
Thanks!

OkMy misstake.

Does the "Must Be cast in resin" rule apply to handmade BJDs? in the Resins and Original Sculpt Attributes section and the Artists' Asian-styled BJDs section?

While dolls are being worked on, they may be made of any material the artist wishes. However, in order to be sold through the MP, posted about in News, or showcased in the Gallery, Artist BJDs must be cast in resin.

So in the future, Volks Dollfie Dream dolls and Obitsu dolls will not be allowed?

Does this mean that selling Obitsu dolls in the marketplace is no longer allowed? Unwise of me to postphone selling mine then![]()

So WHY are Rei-Tenshi's allowed? Is it just because they are Volks dolls? I'm not a fan of Obitsu, but I think it is ridiculous how they are now off topic after being ON topic for so long. And that there is an exception made for a Volks doll.
So if Dollmore or Luts or whatever company came out with a doll jointed like the Rei's, would it be considered on topic as well?
Not to sound bitchy or anything, but why is this exception being made?
I am officially out of the hobby. Sold all the dolls, clothes, and accessories.
Ohhhh.... I totally misread that. It sounded like they were pretty much deeming Obitsu's and such off topic, in which case, I would have been a little upset if they had still allowed Rei.

Hate to burst your bubble buuuuuuuuuuuuuut it says that ones that have been grandfathered in that were made of PVC, hard plastic, and resin wont be allowed anymore...
at least that's my understanding of it anyway *shrugs* so from what I see is no Obitsus, period. No matter the size.
*sighs*
From the thread that is a full list of the rules and that has been updated (what is above is merely a summary of the changes):
