I wish you luck in getting this all resolved, Sonoshi.
And on a side note, it scared the wee out of me to see Andyi pop up in a thread like that! (I work with her at Anime Boston.)

So PayPal actually accept a complaint from someone after they left positive feedback?! I find that pretty scary. I'm going to think twice before listing expensive items.
Surely when you buy something, you check it's exactly as you expected before leaving feedback. If someone leaves me positive feedback, I assume they're 100% happy with their purchase.
Good luck with this and hopefully PayPal will rule in your favour. I hope the fact that you listed his condition as "new" won't cause you problems.
its not your fault u stated it can stand when u sold him... and since he decided to venture into unstringing and restringing it..... its has nuthing to do with u.... becos its like u bought a CD player, once u open it you would have voided the warranty.... its that simple, thats y i hate selling things on Ebay.. u do not know if the person is experince to handle dolls...
zelie: Yep. Because eBay and Paypal are not the same company...it's understandable. Paypal isn't going to check something just on the offchance that the claim filer is a moron and might have left positive feedback...and then tried to say the to the opposite four or five days later. No, of course not. And save the poor seller some discomfort? Gosh no! Why would they want to do that? ;_; I weep for the human race.
Kagari: Yet Paypal might very well decide that it IS my fault. Isn't life beautiful?

Actually, ebay owns Paypal. Paypal's customer service used to be pretty ok, then ebay bought them and now they're as bad as ebay.
Still keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
yeah i totally relate.... do let us know how it works out cos seriously restringing requires more knowledge...![]()
I checked my Paypal account last night and found that my balance was once again in the positive. I was supposed to have gotten an email from them, but I couldn't find it. BUT, regardless...the buyer's claim has been denied and I got my money back.
Thank you guys for your support, even if it was a shoe in!

Well... I'm very embarrassed to say the least. Ms. Sonoshi I had no idea you'd take this to the boards. And name drop me everywhere. I'm surprised you got so anxious... I thought this could be a dispute between the two of us and not a huge ordeal of sidings and all. I've never had to open a dispute on Paypal or eBay so I didn't really know what it would do...
Well, it looks like you have quite a few friends here and I'm still reletively new to Ball Joint Dolls and the communities... But I'd like to say a few things in my defense since my name(s) have been dragged through the mud...
I didn't feel and still don't feel he was adequately described... That's how I feel about it, maybe noone feels I have that right, but it's unchangable...There was nothing in the description about him being floppy and unable to stand or sit. I still can't really get him to sit up. The first thing I did with him was take out the failed wiring job. I was surprised it was there to begin with. So I took it out... After that I did try to re-string him. Several times. I eventually bought good quality strings from Junky spot and restrung him with those.
It's true that I really didn't know anything about Dolkot dolls... I have a MSD Luts and he was my first impression regarding Ball joint dolls. I would go and view Dolkot's site and I never got the impression that they were difficult to pose...
I knew he needed a little cleaning up and I did have this "fix it" notion in mind. I thought it would be straight forward though... I really had no idea that Dolkot dolls were a special type of doll I would need to know all this information about...It became something of an issue when my family and friends saw me very distressed with the doll, but I'm sure no one wants to hear about that...
If anyone wants the story, from my side, and has any advise as to what I should do with him:

In the end everyone had the right to their beliefs about what happened... You won the dispute. And I was depressed and done with this... What strikes me as the most horrid thing is that it would come to the board. I knew it would... I just hoped it wouldn't hurt... ...
....it hurts....
That link is suppose to go here:

I don't know how to edit my posts. I have a lot of trouble with this forum...
You can't edit your posts in the Feedback forum. ^_^
Well, I wish you luck with your new boy, Mozousha, I hope that you can get your boy to the way you like him. I don't have a Dolkot, but I've heard that the old style bodies are horrible for posing (in fact, I think I have an issue of of Haute Doll or FDM around here that talks about modding them to help this.) It is unfortunate the transaction came to what it did, but I hope everyone can move forward from here.
Good luck, both of you!

Mozousha: As you've now discovered, old Dollkot bodies do not stand or pose too well out of the box. Sueding the doll with hot glue might well help. It's easy to do and usually gives an improvement:

You want to purchase a low melt hot glue gun as opposed to a high temperature one.
Don't give up on your doll. There are many brands that have their own little quirks that require you to work on the doll. Many people find that they bond with their doll the more they work on them. You will also find that the more you play/pose him you will become more efficient at getting him into poses that work for him.
Don't be surprised that your transaction ended up here. Right or not, it is an expectation that people will look into the idiosyncrasies of particular molds before buying; after all they do cost quite a lot! He is a beautiful doll, please do persevere.
The fact of the matter is, you left positive feedback on eBay...made a post here on DOA about how you got "exactly as described" but then went on to say that you were having trouble...and you were inexperienced.
You got exactly what was described. I believe that I am just as entitled to be upset when you, several days after receiving the doll, decided to do a complete 180 degree turn and tell me that the doll was NOT as described. You asked for a refund for something you'd had for several days, and had taken apart. You describe a "floppy doll" that was not shipped floppy. That Dolkot was able to sit and stand when I mailed him and I have photographic evidence of such. It's likely he was unable to sit and stand after you "tried to restring" him.
Your request for a refund was politely declined as you could not return to me the item as it had been sent. Then without another word from you, you lock up my Paypal account with a claim for nearly a month. I am within my rights to be upset, seek advise and support from my fellow collectors. It's also my duty to warn others, to protect them from having to experience the same stress and worry that I did.
Rather than ask me anything about the doll and solutions after your purchese..you chose to go to the extreme. I won't apologize for defending myself, but I am not slandering you. There is no "my and your side" of the story. There are the facts.

For future reference, usually when someone receives something of value, claims they are happy, and then files a Paypal claim, they are trying to scam the seller.
also, you wouldn't buy an expensive appliance without researching it first, in the future you may want to do research before buying anything (not just a doll) of value.
If you sold a doll and then someone took back the money, you would have every right to post about it, it is a way of getting advice and warning others about a potential bad buyer. It's intent is not to drag anyone's name through the mud. If you made a bad decision in starting a dispute, that is a fact and not anything someone can manipulate to look bad. The situation looks bad no matter who or how it is written about.
