I have 16mms currently in my SDC.. 14mms give them a wide-eyed look.

18mms are too big. (At least for Kurenai~)

I have never had a pair of eyes glued in so firmly !
they are such a beautiful pair of eyes , I dont want to damage him or the eyes getting them out

Try the freezer trick--put the head in the freezer to shrink the glue slightly.

One of the newcomers on a 'tiny' email group tried it with very great success.

And it's certainly much less risky than a blow-drier.

Hm... the freezer won't be damaging to the faceup right? ^^; Truthfully I haven't even tried to do anything with all that glue in my girl's head cuz I'm scared to just take her head off even XD

I wondered if anyone else who has a Volks Ren is find her head bigger than expected?
Isn't she supposed to wear the same size wig as the Yo-SDs (6-7)?
We are having trouble with many of our wigs refusing to stay on even with moleskin strips on her pretty little head.
They just POINK right off. The smaller 7-8 wigs seem to work better but any bangs ar VERY long.

I'd read about Ren having a large head here on DoA, so I left off buying any 6-7" wigs for her until after she arrived and I could "test" some MSD wigs on her. Now that she's here, I find she fits best in some of my tighter MSD wigs (e.g. Poshdolls elasticated wigs and certain, smaller Leeke wigs). She also wears Volks SDC wigs very well (they are elasticated and also fit my MSDs, albeit more snugly).

Oh good to now I don't have the only melon headed SDC out there. Thanks for posting Shan. Could you point me to the other threads on Ren? She is hard to search for here, as she has one of those evil 3 letter names. I sure wish the search function would be more flexible!
I have tried Anne's Yo-sd wig on her. It is large on anne and fits well on Ren.
My JPOP gold label 6-7s are very stretchy, but won't stay put. I'll keep trying...

Isn't it horrible... It is nearly impossible to search for Ren Posts. I have a MSD wig on her now- I got from Can Can. It fits great, even without a rubber band around her head. I dont do the velcro thing as i worry about a sticky head .

The pink wig is the last pic on this thread and I did have to trim the bangs. I bought a Volks sdc wig like the one my Kaede wears in the pic that's a perfect fit for Ren too

I keep looking but it looks like the threads of ren pictures I've posted have timed out of the gallery. I also posted Ren pics on my website if you want to check it out

Thanks for the links!! It sound like it is just trial and errorfor the fit. I put some moleskin on her head and now she can wear the 6-7 size gold label. It looks very cute on her. Lilly, DD's Sist seems to really like the Ren wig. I kept getting flashes of Dale Evans, partner of Roy Rogers famous TV cowboy. Distinctly odd. Will take photos soon.

My SDC Ren is my first bjd, definately watching this thread to learn more about wigging my Tiara ^^ i m not sure if any size of wig to fit her , i compared the head size with Kurenai before, slightly bigger, that's why i m a bit worry if other SDC/yo sd wig would fit, but gladly i got some answer here, thanks for sharing ^_^

Is Ren's head really that melon-shaped? I wonder how Miko turned out, now, too, if he has wig problems.

lol Ren's head really is pretty big ^^; I think I'll be able to see a Miko in a meet in a few days and I can probably see if his head is as large as Ren's =]

Ren does not pose as well as Miko. Miko has more joints than Ren but they both pose well unless they are strung too loose. They are both beautiful dolls. The main problem is finding clothes that fit them well because the clothes for MSD are often too baggy.

I'm not sure if the mini fee things fit or not....though, I guess I could check as I have some outfits and I'm sure Arashi wouldn't mind.

I love my one and only SDC, Arashi. When you pick him up, it's as if he's alive. He's my favorite doll of all time....and that's a fact! I can't tell you about any of the other SDCs but I think they are all pretty much the same. (Yugikino the SD16 is real nice, too....)

Having handled all of them...

MNF clothes should generally fit. The torso is a wee bit slimmer, so only the absolute skin tight fitted things should have a problem. (Talking about girls here. I'm not sure about boys. Again, stay to the looser stuff and you should be ok.)

The only difference between the girls and boys is the leg joints. The boys have a swivel joint at the hip, and double knee joints. While this gives the boys an edge on some poses, overall I don't think I'd consider the girls less because of it.

They can only be found second hand at this point, unless Volks happens to find one or two and put them on their site, but I wouldn't count on that.

Your best options are in the marketplace here, or Y!J. Sometimes ebay.

I'm hoping to get a Super Dollfie Cute body for my Hewitt head, and I was wondering what brands of shoes would fit the SDC boy's feet? (Besides Volks.)

According to Volks, SDC and MSD share shoes. So, I suppose any MSD shoes would fit.

I can't speak for the body, sorry. As for eye size and maybe wig size, I guess they may differ depending on which SDC you're talking about.

But SDC Ren, specifically, can take 14-16mm eyes. 16mm is her default, but if you want an older look I think 14mm would be better.

As for her head, it seems pretty big, and she fits some of my smaller 7-8" wigs (some Leekeworld, etc.). 6-7" also fits, snugly. The best-fitting wigs on my SDC Ren are elasticated Volks SDC wigs and elasticated Monique 6-7" wigs.

SDCs (I have... a 'few'... LOL... ^^') are quite a bit larger than unoas, and will most likely not fit clothing made for them. I haven't had both in the same place at once, but as I recall, both my minisup and my serendipity girls were SUPER tiny, and shorter than your average MSD, whereas my SDC girls are taller than my MSDs (so proportionally, they are closer in size). They can wear MSD clothes, they are *slightly* baggy, but I doubt enough so to bother your average person. Surprisingly enough, I actually love the volks clothing available for SDCs, so I've been buying that stuff from them. Or commissioning some of the lovely seamstresses on the board with SDCs to make stuff. >D If I'm sewing them something myself, I usually take it in at the waist, and lengthen it a bit.

I hate putting velcro on dolls heads, so I prefer a snugger fit; the 7-8" will slide right off, even if you don't move them, without velcro. And... I love my SDCs, seriously. They are super expensive on the second-hand market, but... ahhh... they're just my favourites! Their posability and proportions and everything are absolutely beautiful, I've handled a lot of dolls, and none have impressed me as much as they have.

Actually, as far as Unoa clothes go, at least for girls, the only thing my Ren owns are a pair of Unoa pants D: I'm pretty sure they fit Unoa clothing okay (buut, I do have a few items from Mio coming so I guess I'll know soon enough for sure XD). Maybe the pants will be hard to deal with, but I think tops and skirts should be fine!

And yeah, the 7-8" wigs fall right off. It's really annoying, so take Lelei's advice if you don't want velcro (I personally don't care, both my boys were velcroed when I got them, so it's not a big deal to me XD)
