The Lati blue body is slisightly slimmer in the hip and leg area than Unoa.

Sometimes I play mix and match with trousers cause I hate Doll heart short pants too. But I love the fancy shirts, vests and coats.

Don't know SouldKids boys well enough. But those outfits are wonderful.

Jescissa & cinnabar_rose: Thanks very much guys! The rain coat is a Volks set. It also came with the umbrella in one of Aya's other pics. They did them for the MSD's and Yo's in blue and pink, but only the MSD's got the umbrellas.

What an adorable Miko! I never see those guys... thank you guls for posting him. He has a grown-up seriousness about him, whereas so many of the other Cute boys have that built-in googliness.

For your adorable Renee, I'm surprised that 16mm EDs aren't a good fit! They look good to me. Ginarolo sells flatback glass eyes... I know she has one specific color "Steel Blue with Amber", which sounds like what you're seeking... but I don't know if that color comes in her flatback style. You might ask her. Or, if you're not opposed to silicone, Masterpiece or Eyeco have some gorgeous hazel-and-blue-flecked shades.

Or.... since you've got the stamina to chase down those Silver eyes, maybe you wanna try Gumdrops...! They let you pick 2 different colors for the iris & the rim, and they have great blues & hazels to choose from. You have to scramble to get on that pre-order list, but goddamn are those eyes wonderful. My Arashi wears 16mm Gumdrops, and his eye shape is a lot like Renee's.

Or... perhaps an eye-bevel to open up those inside sockets. :P

Unlike Miko, the Ryu sculpt seems to be stuck in perma-giggle, rather than sober contemplation. To me, Robin always looks like he's laughing. Maybe that's why I pose him dancing so often.

Hehe, thanks! Robin (and most of my other boys too) seems to stop at 1/2 a gentleman... they put on the dapper 3-piece tuxedo up top, but then leggings & boots with it. ^^ Actually I picked the leggings to go with the beetle-tail tuxedo coat, to set off the marvelous pointy coattails against the skinny legs. The kid cleans up real nice! - but can't seem to keep that little action-figure body still for long.

Now I got to thinking, how similar ARE Arashi's & Renee's eyesockets?... Those two seem similar to me. Rowan here wears 16mm Gumdrops, and they are a great fit. They have a nice low dome, and the eyeball's sort of flat rather than ball-shaped. 16mm makes a big pool of color, with not much white showing, but I like that look on him. Arashi has a big face, so big eyes suit him.



I keep seeing Renee in the same way. But, it sounds like maybe her sockets are smaller inside her head. Arashi is a really big round head; SDC heads got smaller over the years!

Hehe I actually like how the older sculpts were so goofy and up to no good! The newer ones (which I also adore) are more...polite and well behaved...well at least they appear that way.

To get the same effect that Rowan has with 16mm eyes (mostly iris and very little white), I have to use 18mm (with a 9mm iris). The eyes also have to be low dome or else they'll gap. Renee doesn't really have eye wells but getting 2 18mm eyeballs to fut inside her head is a PAIN with the S-hook moving them. She looks cross eyed every time I move her head. T_T I think flatbacks and silicone eyes may be a better choice for this sculpt.

You know what it could also be....? Every Renee I have ever met has had slightly googly eyes, no matter what kind of eyes she was wearing. I think maybe it's part of her sculpt. Maybe you're not making her cross-eyed, she just comes that way. Ryu is the same way! I've given up on trying to give him a straight-ahead stare.

So, her eyes are slightly bigger than Arashi's-- and she wants 18mms to get that big-iris look-- but 18mm eyeballs always come with ginormous whites that don't fit into her eyewells. I can testify that even silicone 18mms tend to have really big whites that don't fit into a small eyewell, & end up gapping anyway. (Of course, silicone is soft, & can be trimmed with an Xacto if you really want to force the issue.)

In that case, maybe you do want to consider the eye-bevel? I have never used one personally-- but I have many crafty friends who've used them to open up the capacity of the eyewell inside, allowing a larger eyeball, while leaving the appearance of the eye unchanged. If Renee had a little more room inside there, maybe an 18mm would fit.

Oh Ryu never looks straight ahead! XD I can get mine to look off to the side-corner but I can never get him to look straight on...and serious!

I was a nervous wreck when I sent off my Renee for a professional faceup with an artist I had a long history with and trusted completely (I was paranoid of her getting lost in the mail). I'll try one or two more pairs of eyes before I send her out again.

Yes! I find that whenever I put Robin's eyes in straight, he just looks spacier than ever. Some dolls were meant to be a little cockeyed-- something about their faces just reads "right" when the eyes are not positioned scientifically perfectly.

I hear you, on shipping out beloved heads & praying that they make their way back home! But if you live in NYC, that's a big scene-- maybe there's a craftsperson nearby, so you can get her eyewells beveled without having to mail her out? If you were here on this coast, I'd just take you across town to St. James's house & she'd have you set by suppertime. ^^ But I totally agree... trying new eyeballs is wayyy easier than altering the head (and more fun, since it means you get to go eyeball-shopping!).
