They work well both for filling up extra space in the shoe/boot, as well as keeping the feet clean, since some shoes have adhesive residue and other icky things stuck inside. O_o (Like one pair of boots that I have, and I really should go wipe my boy's feet clean. =__=;;; ) You don't have to buy real doll-socks. You can make your own out of any stretchy material, or get some infant (like, NEWBORN baby) socks and add a few stitches to make them smaller and fit snugly. Some places also sell little knitted sock-shaped tubes for protecting slender MP3-players. I use those too, especially with dress-shoes-type footwear for my SD-sized boys, because they're proportionally correct for standard work socks. 8D
